  1. Also ending its run last 12/5 was The Fifth Estate with just $3.2M, I thought this is the biggest bomb this year for movie that had over 1K screens but no there's a movie called Phantom starring Ed Harris and David Duchovny that was shown in March and released in 1,118 screens but only earned $1.03 million
  2. I watched Ender's Game (opened here this week, avoided Thor and CF last November) and I never read the novel (or checked out the synopsis at Wikipedia) so I was caught off guard with the revelation. There were boring moments I admit but the last part was really good and thought provoking. Too bad it flopped.
  3. Checking out BOM's 2013 list and found out four movies ended their theater run last Dec. 5 - We're The Millers ($150.3), The Wolverine ($132.5), Prisoners ($61) and The World's End (26M). Bad Grandpa is now at 99.2, assured to be the 30th movie to cross 100M. We still have The Hobbit, Anchorman 2 and probably 2 or 3 "Oscar" movies that could gross at least $100M
  4. I just felt some song numbers were long but that's just a minor complaint. The audience I was with clapped at the end. That rarely happens here. LOL, I saw those kind of dudes when I watched this as well! They are probably with a barkada. Yeah diverse audience for me as well but since it was a Friday night, lots of yuppies more than kids in my screening. There were also claps, not loud but scattered but still very uncommon for a regular screening. I hear applause and such during press screenings and local film festivals but very rare for regular screening. The last time I heard applause from regular people before Frozen was On The Job.
  5. I hope Frozen's saturday increase will be high
  6. Hoping for a good Saturday increase for Frozen, wishing it could hit #1 for the weekend but seems like CF is just too strong
  7. RTH, if by any chance you read this do you have any data how much the Filipino movies released there (in ares with many Filipino) earned? Those numbers are never released
  8. In the Philippines, theater run was for almost a year! No movie can do that anymore here, the longest they can do I guess is 6 weeks
  9. http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1rsqsec The voting process is so complicated lol
  10. Here's how the voting went down in NYFCC, Amy Adams was a contender http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1rsqsec
  11. But imagine Oprah vs JLaw at the Oscars! But Lupita is still in the running
  12. Kinda hate see JLaw backlash on award-centrics site because of her NYFC win but anyway congrats, what an amazing streak
  13. Both The Counselor and Runner Runner will struggle to get to $20M! Considering star power and wide releases, really disappointing Ditto Oldboy but at least the distributor just had it on limited release, less embarrassing than going wide and flop hard like Fifth Estate
  14. Yay CF and Frozen!Nice hold for Gravity! Glad CP crossed 100M last week before the juggernauts came in. I thought Bad Grandpa will cross 100M already but it's already close to it so it will get there eventually Turbo is still in theaters! It crossed 83M now. What a big disappointment domestically for Dreamworks but the overseas kept it from being a major money loser. Ditto Percy Jackson 2.The Heat is still in theaters haha! Too bad it's not going to reach 160M but it's sooo close Planes is still there as well, 90M is really good performance and definitely good decision financially speaking to upgrade it from direct-to-video to theatrical release I guess The Smurfs 2 is already out of the theaters, can't see it in Mojo's list 76 76 The Fifth Estate BV $698 -78.0% 6 -10 $116 $3,254,172 $28 7 Gone next week? At maligayang kaarawan kayu!
  15. Really good performances fo CF and Frozen And Paul Walker.
  16. Great for CF and Frozen! How I wish The Muppets did as well when it was the Thanksgiving movie 2 years ago. Still sad that movie failed to reach 100M
  17. Hi Kayu! Please update the thread title http://forums.boxoffice.com/index.php?/topic/740-the-philippines-box-office-thread-insidious-ll-biggest-horror-opening-ever/page-48#entry1135113 CF almost equaled THG's entire run gross in just 5 days!
