  1. But they could sell it as a romcom too right? I've read it being described that way on some reviews
  2. Since SLP is also a romcom it could likely do good business during Valentines Day as well
  3. With JLaw's SNL hosting on the way as well and possible Golden Globes win, SLP is in for a good box office run. People who were complaining why SLP didn't get a wide release from the get-go will likely realize it was a wise decision from Weinstein since he let Les Mis and Django pass (and to some degree Zero Dark Thirty). Hate him or love him we can't deny how good he is as a strategist
  4. With great Oscar nominations haul, SLP nationwide expansion is coming very soon. It may have a shot with $100 million now
  5. Of course TDKR's Visual Effects snub dominates BoxOffice.com's Oscar forum discussion
  6. Life of Pi dominated tech categories just like Hugo last year so it will likely win Visual Effects easily
  7. Not a fan of Snow White and The Huntsman but I think it deserves its Visual Effects nod, technical side of the movie is very polished the story and attack is just dull Glad Mirror Mirror got a nomination for Original Costume!
  8. Sad for the Perks and Looper snub for Screenplay ;( Also no Brave songs for Original Song In fact for the first time since 2005 that no Disney/Pixar song made it to this category. But I'm very with Quvenzhane Wallis' nomination
  9. Pirates! Band of Misfits sneaks in with a nomination. I haven't seen that but glad Frankenweenie, Brave, Paranorman and Wreck-it Ralph are all nominated!
  10. Looper for Best PictureFrankenweenie for Best PictureCloud Atlas for Best PictureHelen Hunt for Best Actress (instead of Supporting)Meryl Streep for Best Actress (Hope Springs)Phillip Seymour Hoffman for Best Actor (instead of Supporting)Eddie Redmayne for Supporting Actor (Les Miserables)Jacki Weaver for Supporting Actress (Silver Linings Playbook)Kerry Washington for Supporting Actress (Django Unchained)
  11. True just like Lincoln, it never hit #1 or even #2 for the weekend but look at it
  12. My final predictions [*]Argo [*]Lincoln [*]Zero Dark Thirty [*]Silver Linings Playbook [*]Life of Pi [*]Les Miserables [*]Django Unchained [*]Moonrise Kingdom [*]Skyfall
  13. Local film fest over! Life of Pi, Red Dawn and Jack Reacher opens today and Zero Dark Thirty on Friday Here's the list of January 2013 releases so far Image courtesy of Pinoyexchange
  14. I follow music charts (local, Billboard, UK Singles) so I'm aware who Trey Songz is. He is very popular with the urban crowd and that audience is quite loyal I must say. Surprised though to find out he was the main draw of TCM3D
  15. Yeah it's quite lovely to hear audible oohs and aahs from the audience
  16. Wow this looks so comfortable! We have like that here but it's located on a high-end luxurious hotel/casino/mall so not within my reach haha
  17. Sorry for being one of the perpetrators of off topic discussions here but this is better right than having back-and-forth discussion if The Hobbit is flopping/disappointing or not, right?
  18. Yeah I actually don't mind 20 minute or more trailers, I like gauging reactions from the people. I actually get disappointed when there are few or when I enter the theater a little late to catch them all
  19. 20 minute ads/trailers is so common here haha, I consume my snacks before the movie starts lol
  20. True, most people here commute as well
  21. Even if Bwakaw failed, I'm proud of that because it's the best choice FAP had in years
  22. Good to know I'm not the only one who feels happy when there are long lines in the theaters haha. I know most people are annoyed with long lines and the waiting but for me I like it because business is doing good even though I don't have a stake at it lol
