Those numbers are kinda awful for Turbo.
Compared to RoTG, Turbo opened 10% lower in Mexico and 25% lower in Brazil. Hard to compare to Russia since its loaded up with preview numbers.
I think this is headed for $90m domestic/$180 foreign for $270m WW.
For any Bill Simmons fans, he wrote a great story on how Ryan Reynolds is a fake/manufactured "movie star" a couple years ago...right on the money: http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/6716942/the-movie-star
Incredibly unlikely that they will ever turn a profit on this movie unless the box office turns around.
$135m is just the production budget. Once you factor in marketing, the costs go up to the $200m area.
4.15m actual for Turbo. Man a 25% drop for Turbo is awful.
Probably will be something like...
5.55m
4.15m (-25%)
6.4m (+55%)
8m (+25%)
6m (-25%)
20.5m 3-day
30m 5-day
That'd be a worse 5-day than Rise of the Guardians (32m), a huge bomb.
meanwhile that is a great number for DM2. its almost like Turbo didn't even open.
I am guessing Monster's University got whacked a bit as it probably lost a bunch of theaters yesterday.
We're on pace for about a 17.5m 2nd weekend/53% 2nd weekend drop, at the moment. I would personally say that that is not a good hold. I expected word of mouth to be better than that.
