  1. Rooting for Wreck-It Ralph. Quite possibly my favourite animated film outside of the Toy Story franchise. Then again I still haven't seen Frankenweenie.
  2. Personal attacks are lame, it's why I can't be bothered with IMDb message boards, but thankfully I don't see that happening much here. Disagreement and debate should be encouraged, but there's no reason for things to ever get personal.
  3. I like Chastain enough but I am going to be sooo disappointed if JLaw doesn't win it.
  4. I'm really excited about this one. Would love to see it be a box office smash but I'm having doubts. Hopefully it does well enough.
  5. Yeah, yesterday I went to see Life of Pi with my mate and we got the last two seats in the house. After we purchased it was completely sold out, and the next session was 90% sold too.
  6. "Lactating breasts" don't look like that lmao. Come on, you just need to look at all her candids since her pregnancy to know that she's getting "help" in these on set pics. Trust, it's a push up bra. I don't think men understand just how amazingly they work.
  7. Knightley is not going to get nominated. No way. She didn't get the buzz she needed in order to be a viable contender, so it's not going to happen.
  8. I have no doubt the case will be laughed out of the courtroom as soon as possible. It's like when people tried to blame Marilyn Manson for Columbine back in 1999. Just utterly ridiculous. As always, in the face of a tragedy like this some people would rather pass the buck and blame entertainment and talk bullshit, than have a serious and critical discussion about gun law reform. It's so frustrating to see.
  9. I wish I loved it, I really do. I saw it when it was first released in the UK and went in expecting to at the very least appreciate it, if nothing else, but thought it was abysmal Gary Oldman was spectacular though, shame the script was so impossibly convoluted.
  10. OMG... I paid to see TTSS once and I regretted it. I was falling asleep in it. And I NEVER fall asleep at the movies! I can think of nothing worse than sitting through that twelve times lol. (MAJOR unpopular opinion but I thought it was a dreadful movie 'saved' only by great performances)
  11. I think I ended up seeing Superbad three times at the theatres, but that was because it was three different social groups who wanted to see it at different times. I didn't complain Other than that, twice is my usual max!
  12. Honestly, massive respect to WB for handling this tragedy the way they have. In a world (and an industry) where it's all about the bottom line, it's really heartwarming to see a studio act so decently, even when it's at the expense of their profits. Pure class.
  13. I think they should delay GS's release but keep the scene. Alternatively, if they're insistent on this release date then I don't think it's right to keep the scene. People can argue that audiences will know about the scene in advance and can avoid the movie alltogether if they don't want to see it, but if WB has already pulled the trailers (a wise move, at least until they can be edited) then how will the general movie-going audience know to expect it? Delay the release, give people time to heal, then the scene can be kept without seeming insensitive.
  14. Of course BO is low for all movies, I said this yesterday but people told me I was wrong and that the shooting wouldn't affect anything. People are afraid to go to the cinemas right now, the media is fear-mongering like always and talking about copycat attacks so a lot of people are staying at home or getting their entertainment a different way. In time the fear will subside, but for the near future there won't be as many (american) people going to the theatre.
  15. Sorry I missed this post! I read it here - take it with a grain of salt of course, and here's hoping it's not true.
  16. Beyond disappointing but also not surprising. The people who said the Colorado massacre won't have any impact on BO performances are kidding themselves.
  17. Yeah IA the fact it wasn't a suicide mission speaks volumes as to what a narcissistic sociopath he must be, and combined with the way he planned booby trapping his apartment, is really chilling. Usually if these spree killers don't turn the gun on themselves, it's because they're interested in/motivated by fame and notoriety, or want a platform to send their sick message. Reading that he fancies himself as 'The Joker' really disturbs me and also pisses me off, because this cowardly and pathetic man does not deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as an iconic and FICTIONAL character like The Joker.I still think the shooting is going to affect the domestic BO, but not have any impact on OS. I just read on another site that WB is thinking of pulling screenings? I really hope that's not true... editing the trailers I understand, pulling the film completely I do not.
  18. Just got back. I LOVED it. I don't know how it will hold up upon mutiple viewings but based on first impressions I enjoyed it more than TDK. Anne was FANTASTIC in it which I really wasn't expecting, in the past I've found her acting to be rather insufferable but she had such an edge to her in this role that I was not expecting at all; her Selina was kickass and a total delight to watch. The acting was across the board great, from Anne and Bale to Cillian Murphy in his awesome cameo. Michael Caine almost literally broke my heart lol, he was flawless. The entire plot/concept was something that I think really resonates with today's (western) world and I was rivetted beginning to end. The movie never dragged for me, whereas (majorly unpopular opinion here) The Dark Knight did in parts. Slight negatives: the way both Bane and Talia went out was so unimpressive. The impact of Bane's death was hurt by its suddenness and lack of punch, Talia's by an over-the-top script and/or acting (and for what it's worth I loved Marion as Miranda/Talia up until that scene). I actually laughed out loud when she took her final dramatic breaths and I know I wasn't the only one. I thought the JGL reveal was anti-climatic because I was guessing/hoping throughout the entire movie he would become Robin, so it was a satisfying and perfect way to end things but IMO a little bit too obvious. I also agree with those who found Bruce/Selina together in the cafe a bit cheesy, since my interpretation is that Bruce did survive and Alfred did see him. But given how dark this franchise has felt, I guess I utlimately don't mind the bit of rare cheese it has given us A perfect conclusion to an absolutely brilliant franchise. I can't wait to see it again. Grade: A+. 9.5/10.
  19. That is simply not true, and there is a huge correllation between the amount of violent crime America experiences and its (virtually non existant) gun control laws, but I will agree to disagree with you since I do not feel this is the right forum to have this discussion, or the right time all things considered.
  20. I'm not talking about Australia, I very explicitly said I was waiting for it to happen in America. I'm not sure what exactly you've taken from my post or how, but that's not what I was saying at all. I'm not arguing for more theatre security, I'm pointing out that such a thing does not exist. And I'm sorry but you are wrong, there is one thing that can be done, and one conversation the US NEEDS to have, and that's a conversation about gun control.
  21. What theatre security? Honestly, I've never been to a theatre in the US but all the ones I've been to in Australia/UK/France/Italy/etc have had no security at all. A small confined space with a huge crowd of relaxed people and not many accessible exits, It's the perfect opportunity for a cowardly sociopath to execute a plan like this. I've been paranoid about this kind of thing ever since that hostage incident in Russia in 2002, I've always thought it was only a matter of time before something like this happened in America.
  22. I don't know if you're joking or what, but that's not true. This was premeditated and every detail was planned in advance, his dating profile has a bioline saying "will you visit me in jail?" and he rigged his apartment with booby traps, even timed his music to start blaring after midnight so police would come to the apartment to check out noise complaints. He was also in the theatre watching the film with the rest of the moviegoers, apparently he pretended to take a call and opened the exit only door. When he came back later he was decked out in his gear and started shooting.
  23. Make no mistake, box office will most definitely be affected. Not just for TDKR, but for all movies in the near future. People are afraid to go to the cinemas now. In time the fear will subside, but for now it's definitely going to make an impact.
