  1. OMG is it true that JP3D is only going to be in theatres for one week? Because if so I missed my chance to see it
  2. Probably my most anticipated summer movie at this point. The premise is so interesting, I can't wait.
  3. For the sake of my eyesight, recast Cumberbottom PLEASE.
  4. Isn't Olivia Wilde going to be in Her? I've got high hopes for that, even if it doesn't set the BO on fire I'm hoping it's at the very least a quality film (aka something she has never made before) so here's hoping she doesn't taint it with her evil flop voodoo...
  5. Exactly. The reason why I see JLaw becoming a global superstar before any of her peers (including Emma Stone) is because she's not just America's Sweetheart, her sense of humour and personality is something that resonates worldwide and gives her international appeal. She's dry and quick-witted, so the UK is loving her. The Daily Fail is so far up her arse right now it puts up a new article every time she farts. Plus I think the UK always had a soft spot for her because she was dating Nick Hoult for a long time and was living in London for a while. Also she's self-deprecating and doesn't take herself too seriously, so Australia is loving her right now too. Add that to her undeniable talent and it stands that JLaw is only going to get bigger and better.
  6. LOL why are you pretending JLaw isn't popular in the UK? Because she most definitely is. She may not be the box office draw/powerhouse she is in her home country but she is definitely well known and well liked to the general public.
  7. Ain't no stopping SLP <3 Remember when everyone presumed it had no chance of reaching $50M, let alone $100M? Ahahahahahaha! 2013 has been utter shit and not just in terms of box office, but in terms of movie quality. There's definitely a correlation there. Pretty much every movie that has been released so far has looked like dreck, so movie goers are choosing to see movies like SLP and LOP and Argo instead. That's why when we look at the box office for the new releases, it looks like the audience isn't there. They are there, they're just not flocking to shit movies by default because they're new and are instead paying to see movies that may be "older" but have positive WOM and Oscar buzz surrounding them. Why pay to see the newest mind-numbing Rock movie when you can see a film as dazzling and life-affirming as LOP, or as feel-good and entertaining as SLP? There's no comparison. I know I'd much rather pay to see SLP or LOP in the theatres for a third time than see JTGS or 21AO. I have faith Oz will bring some life back into the BO because unlike all the other new releases of 2013, it's actually got some appeal. EDIT: Actually, now that I think about it, if I were in the US I'd definitely be seeing Stoker this weekend. I can't wait for it to be released in Australia.
  8. I've never seen Die Hard either. Whatever. Action movies aren't really my bag.
  9. I just hope it's a good role for JLaw. I know it's a small supporting role, so I don't care about the size of the part, I just hope it's a quality role. In theory, she deserve much better roles than "X's wife" so hopefully it's at least a fun, scene-stealing kind of part.
  10. Best picture: Life of Pi Best actor: Hugh Jackman Best actress: Jennifer Lawrence Best director: Ang Lee Best supporting actor: Robert de Niro Best supporting actress: Anne Hatahway Original screenplay: Django Unchained Adapted screenplay: Life of Pi Animated: Wreck It Ralph
  11. Say what? Explaining a quote that people misinterpreted isn't overanalysing. Those who are acting like she said anything wrong are the ones who are reading too much into it. Some people clearly aren't getting it. I thought Riva was a shoe-in for the BAFTA but British newspapers (not that they mean anything) are calling JLaw the BAFTA favourite. Fingers crossed
  12. I think Alexis is on Mad Men now. I don't know if it's a regualr role or just a guest star type thing, but I remember reading that she's dating her co-star now.
  13. I haven't seen GG for years and stopped watching when Rory got to college, but when it started it was my fave show and I still have a lot of love for all the actors/love it when I see them pop up in other projects
  14. I don't think the Oscar dress quote is that bad. In fashion, "Oscar dress" doesn't mean "dress you wear when you WIN the Oscar" it just means "dress you wear TO the Oscars". She's essentially saying she's always cared more about being respected and acnowledged professionally than getting married. As a girl who never dreamt about her wedding dress (or wedding for that matter) I kind of dig that quote and dont find it obnoxious at all. Still Team JLaw
  15. I knew there was no way SLP could have finished behind Flight. Super impressive screen average
  16. well the poster you were referring to was. They said the BAFTA was between Riva and Chastain. My money's on JLaw. I think Chastain's chances are done and dusted, she really needed that SAG win. The buzz surrounding her film and her performance peaked too soon. Riva MAY upset but it's unlikely. Say hello to Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence.
  17. Riva has a very good shot of winning the BAFTA. Anyone who says otherwise is kidding themselves.
  18. Saw SLP today. 2PM session in VMax and easily 90% of tickets were sold. The theatre was PACKED. Crowd absolutely loved the movie - laughed in all the right places, oooh-ed when Tiffany slapped Pat, literally cheered when their dance score was revealed, and clapped loudly at the end. On my way out I overheard at least three different conversations praising "The Hunger Games girl". I've got a feeling it's gonna receive great WOM here and have a good run
  19. If there are more people like me out there, aka people who said "fuck it" and went to the movies just to sit in some air conditioning for a couple of hours, then I think Friday's numbers should certainly be higher than usual lol. I saw Paranorman and there were a lot of families in the theatres. It wasn't a sold out session though.
  20. 1. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire2. Serena3. Snowpiercer4. Stoker5. Oz: The Great and Powerful6. Her7. The Great Gatsby8. The Worlds End9. The Place Beyond the Pines10. Jurassic Park 3D
  21. Oz may not be a certainty, but I'd say it's a pretty safe bet. I do think people here underrestimate it. I can see it doing 200M domestic.
