This was a pretty good year for science fiction. So here's another one in my list: I promise the next film isn't science fiction/fantasy.

I saw the Clone Wars in theaters actually. What can I say? I like Star Wars. I thought it was...kinda terrible so I avoided seeing the series until this year when I checked it out due to my TFA hype. I watched the first season only so far and it started to get really good at the end. I'm hoping to have time to watch season 2 sometime this year.

There are of course always exceptions (and I imagine lifetime broadcast rights would be way more expensive but it might be worth it in TFA's case) but yeah in general, they don't get them for life. That's an amazingly good deal.

It launched a six-season series that became a fan favorite and was received pretty well. It's one of the few Expanded Universe products to come over to the new canon. The movie was a success by every measure it was expected of it. So no, I will not erase it from memory/history.

They don't broadcast the film for life for $15 million. They pay for the first-run broadcast rights which they have for a couple years.

Box office can also tie into other things like because this movie made so much money domestic, they can go to US Netflix or HBO or FX and sell TFA at a premium price. FX/HBO don't care about international grosses.

There are no strings on me.

Moving on to the next movie:

Colbert did a bit where he tried to explain Star Wars to China because China doesn't like Star Wars like the rest of the world. Any expectations over 150 million were done by people who seemed to think big grosses in the US = big grosses in China. That's like Trump complaining that American car companies struggle to really get into the Japanese car market. It's a basic misunderstanding that regional markets are different and America is not always number one (of course there's also no real such thing as winners and losers in globalization). People who actually follow Chinese Box Office and people who actually follow foreign grosses, at least on this forum, have been saying $150 million. It can perform more than that but the expectation for performance is $150 million. More than that and it overperformed.

I like to believe he did fulfill the prophecy in the prequels. He brought balance the force: 2 Jedi and 2 Sith. ROTS was him fulfilling the prophecy.

I don't think SHIELD was a secret. I think SHIELD was just a little-known organization until the events of the Avengers brought it to the world's attention.

You should be able to upgrade for $2. I'm not sure how.

After the Avengers amazing $200 million OW, it felt the same.

The real question is...what is TFA going to adjust to in 10 years?

So: TFA is like $8 million away from beating Avatar's first-run DOM gross. Since some people only care about adjusted: TFA is currently #21. It is going to beat TPM and even the original JP at this point (but remember according to Excel that franchise is bigger) and will be the first movie to hit the top 10 in the adjusted field...without adjusting. Sorry Snow White and maybe the Exorcist. If it reaches $1 BIL it might even knock off Doctor Zhivago.
