This was the breakdown WW would need to hit each week to hit 400m. So far it's cleared the first hurdle by a couple million, and looking to do the same this weekend (I made it prior to its second weekend). Take that as you will. For this to club to happen it'd need a best possible case scenario like this Assumed High End 2nd Weekend: 56m (203.8m) CHECK 58.5m (206.3m) 3rd: 39.2m (-30%) (262.5m) Most likely check 39m+ 3rd weekend (272m+) 4th: 23.5m (-40%) (303.5m) 5th: 16.2m (-31%) (335.1m) 6th: 9.1m (-44%) (352.7m) 7th: 6.8m (-25%) (366m) 8th: 6.5m (-5%) (378.5m) 9th: 4m (-40%) (386.2m) 10th: 3.1m (-22%) (392.1m) 11th: 2m (-37%) (395.8m) 12th: 1.3m (-35%) (398.1m) 13th: 0.7m (-46%) (399.3m) 14th: 0.5m (-35%) (400m)

Not just in spirit. I'd give WW around a 40-50% chance of actually doing it now. That's up from maybe the 5% chance I was thinking when he made it. If it keeps up these legs, then it shouldn't have a problem, because it's beating what I thought were my "unreasonably optimistic" predicts it'd need to do it.

All Eyez On Me - Tupac Biopic - June 16 2017 | Lionsgate
The Panda replied to Jandrew's topic in Box Office Discussion
I don't think this movie will have good legs at all, it's a piss on Tupac by how bad it is. -
Wow 13.1m is great for All Eyez on Me, however I do expect it to be mostly frontloaded. I do think it could still barely hit or miss 30m. I also don't think Father's Day is going to give it that much of a bump. Wonder Woman could potentially hit 40m with a 10.7m number, depending on its Saturday increase and Father's Day hold.

All Eyez on Me (2017)
The Panda replied to Dementeleus's topic in Review That Movie! (Spoilers Allowed)
I'm ashamed at how poorly they portrayed Tupac, not only that but the film turns the life of such an interesting guy into a pretty boring affair. This is an example of how not to do a biopic imo.- 1 reply

Some age appropriate films for Tele Jr (but that'll also culture him): Raiders of the Lost Ark Princess Mononoke Watership Down The Princess Bride Mary Poppins Modern Times Hard to be a God The Sound of Music The Wizard of Oz Magic Mike Anne of Green Gables E.T. Spirited Away October Sky Who Framed Roger Rabbit It's A Wonderful Life Mr Smith Goes to Washington A Clockwork Orange Pinocchio My Neighbor Totoro Red River My Fair Lady The Wolf of Wall Street Inside Out Bambi

I really liked all three of the comic book movies that came out this year. I probably shouldn't have used VOL 2 as my example because there were better ones. And I'm not meaning to single out comic book movies. These issues are just as bad (worse actually) in decent stuff like BATB 2017, LEGO Batman, Pirates 5, Alien Covenant etc and they're really prelevant in the utter trash movies like The Great Wall or King Arthur. In all honesty Logan, WW and Vol 2 are the best of the bunch of movies this year (so far). I haven't seen many smaller films though, so it may not stay that way.

Wonder Woman had a lot of heart and depth in it, actually, despite there being a number of prevelant flaws. It really captured the spirit of the genre and was fairly endearing. It's a fine line though when it comes to formulas in film. If you think from a musical standpoint, J.S. Bach's music is very formulaic and mathematical, but it's also absolutely brilliant. But then you can think about modern music, and how every song on the top 40 is just a different rendition of a previous top 40 song, and you can see how these formulas can also steal the soul out of art.

I think you did a better job at hitting the points I was trying to get at. I'm not saying every movie needs to be a drama analyzing the human condition, but there are a lot of formulaic products that are completely devoid of artistry/creativity and feel like a waste of talent. Kind of like they pumped the movie out on a conveyer belt.
