  1. I liked Winona Ryder but I felt as if she was the weakest link. Millie Bobbie Brown really stood out for me. She had so little to work with but conveyed so much, and not to mention she's twelve. It was a heart winning performance.
  2. I understand what you meant, was just poking fun.
  3. So if I see a Zack Snyder movie not expecting it to be good, and it turns out to be good, it would be a spoiler for me to say I thought the new Zack Snyder movie was good?
  4. So I mustered up 10m from my piggy bank and I'm willing to bet you 1 million that Justice League and Wonder Woman will at least combine to a 250m WW total. Since this is a risky bet on my part I'm willing to offer up a generous 100004:1 odds. You should take my great offer while it lasts.
  5. Who on earth would be willing to place 100,000 dollars on any kind of BO bet? That's one of the most ridiculous financial risks I can think of.
  6. 1.Arrival 2.The Magnificent Seven 3.La La Land 4.Kubo and the Seven Strings 5.The Girl on the Train 6.Snowden 7.Passengers 8.Doctor Strange 9.The Light Between Oceans 10.Rogue One
  7. It's possible, but it has everything going for it on paper. A WoM and DVR hit, absolutely no competition surrounding it, and not having so many sequels and spin-offs attached that will detract from viewers going to see it. I continually compared GOTG to Pirates when it came out and I think the comparison will apply again here.
  8. I'm thinking 1.Guardians - 445m 2.Spider-Man: Homecoming - 310m 3.Wonder Woman - 300m 4.Justice League - 280m 5.Thor: Ragnorak - 200m 6.Wolverine - 120m

  10. I think the guy has a lot of fair points. It's a good read for perspective on problems in the studio.
  11. It likely didn't cross the mind of members amongst all the hype, and was never really brought up before that. I do think everyone will be aware in future Marvel installments.
  12. I still would compare GOTG to Pirates before I compared it to other Marvel films. But if the quality and marketing are lackluster an Iron Man 2 comp might happen.
  13. I've gotten accused a few times recently for putting spoilers out in the open and I was left confused because from my view I didn't spoil anything because I gave no plot details but to others they saw even my emotional reaction as a spoiler. So I made this thread for people to discuss the rules and definitions of spoilers to help have a bit more clarity. What do you consider a spoiler? Do you think talking about minor spoilers in public for a recent release is okay? And if so what is a minor spoiler, and what's a major one? When do you think it's okay for spoilers of a TV Series or Movie to be discussed in public or online? Do you think this "spoiler-free" culture that exists today has gone too far? Do you think something like, "that last episode of X show was heartbreaking!" should be considered a spoiler? I have specific opinions on these, but I want to know what the forum thinks. I want to know what other peoples opinions are so I can know if I'm way out of culture norm when it comes to the nature of spoilers or not.
  14. Yeah, as long as Marvel does a good job marketing the movie as a fun standalone flick (and as long as the quality isn't terrible), I can see a 400m+ Dom run being possible.
  15. That is true, I think it could play like a Dead Man's Chest to GOTG's Curse of the Black Pearl (just hopefully better quality).
  16. Just my quick comment on the Civil War legs. Of course the movie being the 14th(?) movie of the franchise played an affect on its legs. Especially when you had to have seen 5 other films to even have a chance at really being able to follow along. I've seen all of the Marvel movies and I was still left scratching my head at parts trying to jog my memory. You have to be a fan of the Marvel franchise to like Civil War (or you have to at least have seen the movies). That's not necessarily bad, but it is going to shorten legs because somebody who hasn't seen any Marvel film isn't going to give it a shot because their friends liked it. It's like somebody who had never seen Game of Thrones trying to start at Season 6 episodes 9 and 10. While those two episodes are universally acclaimed as some of the best of the series (and some of the best hours of television ever put to screen), you won't appreciate them (or watch them) if you haven't seen the 58 episodes that preceded them. The MCU has essentially turned into a TV series for Cinema. While a few movies you can watch as standalones now (like GOTG or Ant-Man, which both had great legs for comic book movies), the majority are too interconnected to do so. It's both a fundamental flaw in the MCU strategy as well as why it's so successful.
  17. Id disagree, nilephelan's logic makes the most sense given that the film did get a lot of praise from the majority of those who saw it. And I'm not speaking from a place of trying to defend the movies WoM because I loved it, because I didn't. I mostly share your personal opinion on its quality.
  18. Let's please not pretend like the DCEU failing in the long run will lead to an end of DC films or anything like that. They'll go on hiatus for a bit and then reboot Batman or Superman and life will go on. They have timeless characters, and if one creators vision doesn't go well with the GA in the long run, then another will come along and give it a spin and the GA will give that guys take a shot. Superman and Batman are near equivalents of those different classic novels that get a new adaption every 5-10 years.
  19. Yeah, I do find it funny that we've gotten to a point where people act like a near 70% drop isn't bad. I understand certain films are frontloaded in nature, but it doesn't make those massive drops good.
