  1. Yes, and none of that competition hurt TFA at all. The bigger beast isn't effected, Frozen was a massive family beast and no family movie other than maybe TFA would have dented it by much more than 10m or so.
  2. Im still going by the opinion that TFA sucked the hype out of everything once the pre-sales started. Nothing broke out since then until TFA was released. All of the supposed big hitters like Spectre, Mockingjay Part 2, The Good Dinosaur, and Peanuts did less than people thought they would. It's especially explainable with Dino because it got glanced over when it comes to Disney's marketing machine. Probably wasn't the only reason, but at that point in time everybody was hyped for Star Wars and only Star Wars and they didn't really talk about the other movies coming out.
  3. Also, any of Moana's success now is credit to the movie. None of that, "Well there was no competition, and a family movie HAS to do well over the Holiday's" that I saw for Frozen throughout its run.
  4. There were positives and negatives. The positive of the 10 point boost was that you could get a GPA over a 100, which made it practically impossible for somebody who didn't take the classes to rank higher than you (unless you didn't make A's). The negatives were if you wanted to compete for rank, you had to take as many of them as you could, and not every class had an AP version. So if you wanted to be in say Choir, Theater, Band, Sports, or other electives it hurt your GPA (with the exception of Art that had multiple AP courses for some reason).
  5. Prometheus isn't even the worst in the Alien franchise.
  6. AP classes are international, but mostly big in the US. They're for high schoolers to get GPA padding (at least at my school I got 10 extra points on top of whatever grade I got in an AP class. So if you wanted a high GPA you took them) and a chance for college credit.
  7. Probably depends on the chain, my local theater (that does discount Tuesday) won't even do it for releases that came out that previous weekend.
  8. 9. I think people are being too harsh on the trailers. It looks like a good movie ridden with poor marketing. I also think the GA will still eat it up for a DOM run around 150 - 250m
  10. Given that Democracy has led to things like Trump and Brexit, I welcome Disney taking over the world. A Disney empire would be much better than whatever this political mess we're in right now is.
  11. That's a great start for Moana, especially since I figured it'd be more backloaded. Moana could be in for a very Frozen-esque run after all. I think competition from Sing and Rogue One will stop it from being as huge, but 300m is a good possibility.
  12. Discount Tuesday is also a factor though. I still think there's a good sized increase around 20-25% or so.
  13. I think this dampens Hell or High Water's and Loving's chances.
