  2. Hurt and Heal games seem to be successful on other forums, so I figured I would start one here. The rules are simple: 1.There will be x number of things (depending on theme for the round) and each thing will have 15 health. 2.Every day you have 5 points that you may use to hurt and/or heal a movie 3.You may choose to hurt/heal in any way you choose, for example Bananas (15) Apples (15) Strawberries (15) Kiwi (15) You could do Bananas (17) +2 Apples (12) -3 Strawberries (15) Kiwi (15) or Bananas (15) Apples (15) Strawberries (10) -5 Kiwi (15) or Bananas (16) +1 Apples (16) +1 Strawberries (13) -2 Kiwi (14) -1 etc. Your ONLY limitation is that you may ONLY USE 2 of your 5 points for the turn to heal. You may use however many you want to hurt. You also MUST use all 5 of your points. My reason for this limitation is to keep rounds moving 4.When a certain item's health reaches 0, it is dead/eliminated, and you take it off the list. 5.The winning item is the last one standing 6.You may only take 1 turn a day, I will let this be for your own personal timezone (And as such will take your word on it, however if you start looking like you're not being honest I'll come in and question it). This means (if you wanted) you could take a turn on June 18th at 11:59pm, and June 19th at 12:00am, but then you could no longer take a turn until June 20th 12:00am. 7.Once a winner is reached, they will go down into the hall of fame and we'll pick a new theme (I wanted to start with something simple, like movies, but we may try a members themed one after this round) Anyways let's start. ROUND 1 Roster Gone With the Wind (15) Star Wars (15) The Sound of Music (15) E.T.: the Extra-Terrestrial (15) Titanic (15) The Ten Commandments (15) Jaws (15) Doctor Zhivago (15) The Exorcist (15) Snow White and the Seven Dwarves (15) Star Wars: The Force Awakens (15) 101 Dalmations (15) The Empire Strikes Back (15) Ben-Hur (15) Avatar (15) MY TURN (for Round 1) Gone With the Wind (15) Star Wars (15) The Sound of Music (15) E.T.: the Extra-Terrestrial (15) Titanic (10) -5 The Ten Commandments (15) Jaws (15) Doctor Zhivago (15) The Exorcist (15) Snow White and the Seven Dwarves (15) Star Wars: The Force Awakens (15) 101 Dalmations (15) The Empire Strikes Back (15) Ben-Hur (15) Avatar (15)
  3. Eh, I'll cut 6.01 some slack for having to deal with so many cliffhangers and getting the table set. There wasn't any other way for it to really play out. No One's problems rested more on how they executed what happened than what happened itself. For example, I assumed all of this was just Arya's plan to kill the Waif and get out (itd make the most sense) but it wasn't clear. Also, you kind of leave more confused about who the Faceless Men are than when the House of Black and White storyline started. The Blackfish was killed offscreen. The Hound's mowdown was a bit anti-climatic. The LSH trolling was just annoying, I get if they don't want to add her to the story, but don't continually tease it in the story and then it not happen (and with Beric alive I can only assume it's not happening). And the Riverlands felt pretty inconsequential overall for how much time it took up these two episodes. It wasn't a bad episode, I just think it could have been executed better. I do get though they needed to wrap up these storylines to hit the big ones in 9 and 10. Id rank the season (so far) 1.The Door 2.The Book of Stranger 3.Oathbreaker 4.The Broken Man 5.Home 6.Blood of My Blood 7.The Red Woman 8.No One
  4. It was probably the worst episode of the season, I still wouldn't call it a bad episode though.

  6. The Panda's Apology (for those who may miss it) from the weekend thread Now for my real review... While this isn't an A+++++ movie, or even just an A++ movie, I did enjoy the movie overall. My overall assertion before I begin is if you're a Warcaft fan, you'll definitely like the movie and you should see it on the big screen, if not there's still enjoyment to be had (but the movie is deeply flawed.) First the bad parts 1.The movie needs more. Not just that it should have been longer, but the movie feels incomplete. It feels as if there are 30-45 minutes missing from the movie, as if they were intended to be there but cut for time. As a result, the film feels very jumpy (which indicates there's a much, much stronger directors cut sitting unrevealed somewhere). There are parts where it really throws you off, such as with the romance coming out of nowhere and feeling underdeveloped, or the fact that the fight with Medivh randomly starts with no initial confrontation to indicate a fight had even begun. This itself is the biggest flaw in the movie, and as a reviewer its something I can't look past no matter how much I actually did enjoy some of the other parts. 2.The human side of the story is very flawed. Only Lothar and the Queen standout as being somewhat fleshed out characters, the rest feel like cartoonish caricatures. I understand Warcraft, and understand that's the style of the game, but it wasn't presented in a way where somebody who wasn't familiar with the game was going to buy it. 3.The movie doesn't do a great job at setting itself up for non-Warcraft fans. As a previous WoW and Warcraft player I was able to jump right in and suspend my disbelief, but I can tell that if you hadn't ever touched a Warcraft game before this movie would be off-putting because not only is the world weird (even if this is before the world gets off the walls wack, which is partly why I loved the games) it doesn't really explain much beyond "Orcs are aliens from a dying world, want to kill everything because of evil Magic!" Those are my main complaints, but now for the good stuff 1.The visual effects are astounding. While Id say this should get an Oscar nod for visuals, I'm doubting it really will, simply because of the reputation the movie got with critics (but I could be wrong and surprised). 2.The action sequences are a hell of a lot of fun. Especially as a fan, to see the action play out how it feels in the games is a blast to watch. The magic is really cool to watch, and Orcs smashing is great. They are also shot in a gritty, yet fun manner. It was the most fun action I've seen this year. 3.As a Warcraft fan, I was sucked in. The world is realized incredibly well. I know nostalgia is rather empty, but I couldn't help but grin to see these games I had played for a large portion of my life years back come to life. 4.I loved Ramin Djawadi's score. While it's not a technically brilliant awards winner, it was exhilarating and hearing the game themes weaved in with his original work was cool. 5.The orcs (especially Durotan) were charismatic, breathing creatures and had a very engaging story. Any scene focused on the orcs was on a very high Duncan Jones level of greatness. 6.Durotan and Gul'dan's throwdown scene was the highlight of the movie it should have been. It knocked an emotional punch (that could have hit harder if we had 30 minutes more of material), and it was very well done. 7.This movie had so much potential for actual greatness. It was just uneven and underdeveloped (plus a weak script on the human side, and overall weak actors on the human side). There were so many moments where I was like, "that moment was executed very well, I just wish they had the development prior to make this more impactful." Overall, If you're a Warcraft fan you'll definitely like the movie (maybe even love it) and be able to look past the flaws, if not it'll be an uneven experience at best. As a fan Id want to give it a B+ or so, but my logical side says the movie is to inherently flawed in its current state to warrant much past a C. So I'll give it three grades If you're a Warcraft fan: B+ If you're not: C My Personal Grade: B-
  7. Only the truth is, I'm being completely honest. I showed up 45 minutes before (so I could catch the 30 min pre-show) thinking, "Surely, Popstar will have seats, even if it's the Drafthouse." And of course I was wrong and bought the two last seats in the house.
  8. I have awoken... And it appears I have an apology to make.... You may have noticed this weekend, I haven't actually been myself... You may have heard me say, "Warcraft is my favorite movie of all time," but let me start from the beginning. Earlier this Thursday I began delving and searching for a way for the forum to see how crazy some of the fanboys really were, and I believe I delved into some "magic" I shouldn't have in the deep Bamboo forest. I know it's not excuse, I was just fed up with the constant "Civil War is the best movie ever!", "If you didn't like BvS you're a hater!", I wanted the forum to know. Anyways, when I went to see Warcraft later that night I was overtaken... And corrupted by the Fel... Out of desperation it appears I had discovered the Fel and was overtaken, and it consumed me like it had consumed Medivh and Gul'dan, and I became a raging, vile Warcraft fanboy. With the help of that one Mage in the Warcraft movie who wasn't Ben Foster (but still sucked at acting), I have managed to escape the clutches of the Fel, and have gained my sanity back. I'm sorry to say, but you shouldn't trust anything I said about Warcraft since, well I saw Warcraft on Thursday night. Now that my sanity has returned, I must say, Warcraft is not my favorite movie of all time. Not even close. But I have talked to long, and I will post my full, real review in the Warcraft review thread in a little bit. Hopefully, I never turn into what the worst this forum has to offer ever again.
  9. I saw this in a sold out crowd in an Alamo Drafthouse, and this was utterly hysterical. The movie hits you hard at the start and then never stops never stopping with the laugh riots. The he film is a great deconstruction of the modern Popstar, and is also a wildly hilarious never-ending sketch that works. While there isn't much substance beyond the bear laughs and "in your face" moments, the movie works on a What We Do in the Shadows level (albeit, the humor isn't quite as clever and biting as that ones.) While I did feel as if the movie dragged on a little bit too long, it'd be difficult to go into this film and not get some enjoyment out of it. This would be a contender for best comedy of the year, if it wasn't for the fact that this has been a great year for comedies so far (Zootopia, Deadpool, The Nice Guys, Hail Caesar! to name the other highlights so far). B+
  10. What? Pirated already? This must be the sole cause of the underperformance so far. If it weren't for that we would have been seeing an easy 25m OD. Thankfully, WOM will get out and people will know they must pay to support a movie as great as this one. Warcraft 2 will most definitely increase on T2 scale.
  11. Yes, you do want to watch Warcraft right now. Everyone secretly does. It's the crowd pleaser of a lifetime.
  12. This is very wrong. I didn't see a single person dressed up for my Warcraft screenings but many for my TFA screenings, what do you think of that?????
  13. This 10.7m Friday was merely a setback for Warcraft. Clearly it's a backloaded movie that plays well with families and it'll see a nice 50% increase today!
