So if Deadline is correct, and SW7 just hits their minimum of 170m 2nd weekend, then that's a 31.06% drop from 247.9m OW and an 11.5% drop from the OW minus previews.
That is truly a Titanic kind of hold off of such a massive OW (which broke the last OW record by around 40m btw)
Thatd be much smarter. It's better to hurt a movie from Fox that likely won't even be made in time for 2017 than one of your own movies.
Plus, a Guardians works better in the summer, and away from the movie it's delightfully ripping off.
There were so many amazing runs this year in retrospect, and some amazing disappointments that are baffling in retrospect.
Amazing Runs: Force Awakens, JW, American Sniper, F7, Martian, Inside Out, Straight Outta Compton, PP2
Amazing Disappointments: MJ2, Good Dino, Spectre
I'm excited to go see it, and The Hateful Eight. Im not sure what else is still in theaters around me I need to see before I make my top 15 list on the 1st.
So, I'll take the middle of 28m and hold it like Avatar for the weekend.
Fri: 58m
Sat: 71m
Sun: 61.1m
Weekend: 190.1m
As insane as these weekdays have been, I still doubt it could get that high.
