  1. Mad Max Picture Director Actress Cinematography Editing Costume Design Make-Up Production Design Sound Editing Sound Mixing Visual Effects 11 Nominations
  2. I could see 10 possibly happening this year
  3. Given that Rooney Mara is being pushed as supporting, I don't see how Keaton or Ruffalo could be lead.
  4. I'm curious about this year. Spotlight is the frontrunner but it's not a strong one. Mad Max could potentially come in and win.
  5. I have to say, although I didn't love love Fury Road, I'm really glad it's sweeping up right now. This year is getting a lot of Sci-fi, blockbuster and niche picks so far and I'm liking It.
  6. From the reviews The Big Short seems to be getting passionate love from a decent sized group, and shrugs of "pretty good" from those outside. Same as the Revenant. I think that niche passion should get them both a nom.
  7. That makes me happy, in a strange way. American Hustle was so overrated that O. Russell needed something to knock him off his pretentious high horse
  8. Oscar Campaigns might be as expensive or more expensive than political ones, wow.
  9. Moral of the story, kids think cute, animated Dinos are lame. They like the scary, realistic ones.
  10. Nice hold for Creed, nice opening for Krampus, horrid drop for Dino, so-so drop for Mockingjay
  11. Joy and Star Wars haven't screened from what I believe. So it makes me wonder about their chances.
  12. Teenagers really say that? When I was in high school me and my friends got into R movies all time. Half the time we didn't even have to be sneaky about it.
  13. The Good Dinosaur was better than all three of those and had similar reception to Brave and MU
  14. Yeah, Boyhood wasn't Oscar bait. People were doubting how well itd play at the Oscars early in the year.
  15. Most movies getting these threads don't warrant one, but I believe this does. Why? The Good Dinosaur is looking to be Pixar's lowest grossing movie period. Not only that, but the movie was meant to be a sure fire hit after the massive success of Jurassic Word, a great release date, and following up Inside Out. There was supposed to be a strong Pixarfever after Inside Out, but that didn't show with Dino's opening. Even with great legs, it likely won't get past Cars 2 in gross. How did one of Pixar's most expensive movies and probably one of their easier sells come to fail, domestically? The lowest prediction was 215m in the Winter Game, and it will end up falling a good ways short of that. In fact, it'll have a rough time outgrossing (if it even will) smaller studio animated films like Hotel Transylvania 2 and The Peanuts Movie. What went wrong?

  17. Reviewers seem to either love it, or admire it's technical showcase but think the movie is so-so.
  18. If it's a technical masterpiece I'm probably going to dig it and it'll likely be in my top 5 for the year.
