  2. I think it's fairly likely, Apes will gain back some of the older teen - 20 audience it lost to the purge this week which will make up for losing some adult audience to Lucy.
  3. Boyhood did 1.2m in 33 theaters, that's a great 209% increase, they should really widen their release and expansion schedule this is doing good numbers for a low budget. It could even help them finance a strong awards campaign.
  4. But not everything needs a sequel...What is it with this day and age wanting to franchise anything that's a hit? Why not just make more original content and go off goodwill of your old content?Pixar did that for a while and it worked handsomely, then they sequalized and their movies were still successful just not close to the heights of their string of original content.
  5. Sad? More like inspiring given the cars/planes franchise are some of the worst things to come from Disney/Pixar and that their market scheme to make a movie for the pure sake of selling more toys failed.
  6. Tammy is the highest grossing movie about Melissa McCarthy being Melissa McCarthy as the only selling point to the thing.
  7. Sunday drop should be slightly less than last week for Dawn because no World Cup. I wouldn't be surprised with a 20% drop (3% is fair enough for the WC I guess)
  8. Scorsese is a flat out well known director, I mean the man did Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, GoodFellas, Mean Streets, The King of Comedy, The Departed, and that just barely scratches the surface.
  9. I agree with this, there really doesn't need to be genre best pictures. Honestly if there were I'd have it be Best Comedy, but even then no, this isn't The Globes or People's Choice Awards.
  10. How many of them can name a director that isn't Nolan or Spielberg? And if they can name Nolan can they actually name any of his movies that aren't The Dark Knight franchise/Inception. And if it's Spielberg can they even name 5 of his movies? I am sure there are some cinema loving teens that can, just most at that age flat out don't give a crap about directors.
  11. I bet if you took a survey of teens to name their top 5 favorite directors 80% of them would name 1 or less.

  13. I will admit Scorsese isn't as well known with the younger crowd, but the younger crowd doesn't really pay attention to directors anyways.I'd argue the only director working today with a bigger following than Scorsese is Spielberg (I guess Nolan as well but he's a newbie)
  14. Scorsese isn't well known?? What?First batman isn't a draw, then Leo isn't a draw, and now Scorsese isn't well known?Scorsese is one of the most esteemed directors still working in the business. Also Leo is a huge draw, there is no way Wolf of Wall Street would have been a huge success without him, same with Gatsby.
  15. Here is my list people can use as an example,1.Gladiator2.Finding Nemo3.Gravity4.Life of Pi 5.Django Unchained6.Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl 7.The Wolf of Wall Street 8.The LEGO Movie 9.The Hangover 10.Wall-E 11.Cast Away 12.Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World 13.Tangled 14.The Incredibles15.Minority Report
  16. If the movie is inspired by a source material (such as a game, toy, or fairy tale) but isn't an adaption of it then I will count it.That'll give more options.
  17. Try looking through boxoffice mojo and you will find some.If we have to I will open this up to novel adaptions but there are more than you think there are.
