It is still really early and we have weekend numbers already? I'll wait for something more official, before writing either TMB or ROA off completely.Sandler has been cruising along on the success and goodwill of his older films and with every new release we see his grosses become less impressive. Releasing R rated movies when your main audience is families just isn't a smart move, it could even turn your family audience away from your films. I think Sandler had very little to do with Grown Ups success, that one is a strike in the win column for Kevin James.ROA also tanking which isn't overly surprising, the marketing just wasn't appealing.As to 'what is going wrong this summer?' absolutely nothing, I think it is going pretty damn well, the studios have served us up with a whole lot of crap and audiences re rejecting which makes me happy, BS & DS have outright bombed and we can know add ROA and TMB to this group, and films that are said to be enjoyable or have mixed reviews like MIB3, SW&TH & Prometheus has done very respectable numbers while the well reviewed films that looked the most appealing have done fantastic numbers like TA and Madagascar.

People seem to have an issue with all the unanswered questions the film leaves you with which you won't get an answer to through a repeat viewing unlike Inception were you might have missed something and watch the film again and pick up on what you had missed.

Maybe, all I seem to be seeing on facebook is 'Watching Prometheus... WTF' or 'Prometheus, so confused'. I don't think general audiences are really warming to the film.

Prometheus is following a similar trajectory to that of Wanted, Prometheus is also ahead in dailies and should have a better weekend hold, I'm hesitant to say a 3 multi is possible but it should finish above 135m.

No he has proclaimed Prometheus a disaster everyday.

I said it in the first few pages, you were definitely not the first to qoute it but I thought I would reiterate my point.

THG could become a dominant domestic franchise, CF could manage to outgross THG which is likely with strong book sales drawing even more fans in for the next year, it is also apparently the best book in the series and with strong late legs in winter after a 170m or so opening it could realistically pass THG and become one of the biggest domestic franchises of all time.

If we are talking purely domestic then I wouldn't disagree with you entirely but I was talking about WW and I should have made that clear.Twilight might be consistent but ticket wise it hasn't been able to match Potter. NM sold 39 tickets, the highest of the franchise which is only more than DH1. Every other Potter film has sold over 40m. Not really the same level, Potter is superior there, but in terms of consistency they are very similar in $ film-to-film.

I'm not trying to prove anything, I already made my point clear: Potter is a more deserving film than TA.

Thor is the best Marvel film ever.

Well release 8 TA films and we'll see if people decide to still tune in, TA cannot match the consistency of Potter, nothing has, they all fade away. Even Potter faded to an extent but it did finish the franchise on a big high.

If James bond managed to do it in 8 films then yeh I would say it is more 'loved' as you say. TA is more popular at the time being because it is in the here and now, it is more relevant and that is only domestic. Potter is still bigger than TA OS. If we are talking OS Potter is still king behind Cameron.

Exactly, the only franchise that will be able to surpass this record is Avatar which will most likely do it in $ and not in admissions. But Avatar will likely do it in 3 films which is amazing.

TIH, IM, IM2, CA, THOR, TA. That is 6 films, with IM3, THOR2, and CA2 coming out soon, that will be 9 films.

Potter is the better film series and therefore deserves more than TA.
