Yep and this performance is to me more impressive than AVATAR and HPDH who shared teh same performance cause those two were released domestically and foreign in synch while TA domestic was released 10 days after its foreign take and only had a week of domestic run when it cross that path. IM3 will do it on day 23.

How will FF6 fare compared to STID in the UK ? Do you think it will hurt STID this weekend ?

I think Trek has a small chance if it really holds well in the domestic market and with the help of 3 D because quite frankly i don't know how it will manage to not have its legs cut off in markets where FF6 will be released, not to mention HGIII. I mean F5 overperformed in each market of Asia, South America and Europe. Every single os market where STID does good, F5 did great which bode even better for its sequel. It is popular in the UK, Germany, France, South Korea, Brasil, Mexico, China, Japan, you name it. Being unevenly popular in every market gives the movie an edge that STID doesn't have. And it will be released in June in China during a week of Holliday. I beleive it's the most popular franchise of the summer bar IM3 (thanks to TA). That's why I think it could become extremely lethal for all movies released around its date because that movie will drain a lot more people than any other movie.

Agree. And since $1 billion will be reached today or tommorow, i can see it finishing the weekend around $ 1.07 - 1.08 billion already. $1.1+ billion will be reached before entering June. After that it will just crawl to $1.2 billion or approach it.

The legs of STID facing FF6 will be tested already in two days in some markets such as the UK. It can sheds light to what will happen next week in the US. I beleive it will hinder all movies and mainly STID that was just released. Quite frankly, i can see this movie doing ganbusters business abroad in every markets...and it has the best date of any blockbuster in China...$100 million in that market isn't a fantasy at this point.

When can we expect an update of the international gross ? Is anyone knows what it made on monday and tuesday ? If there is a chance that it pass the billion's mark today ?

Competition will get sick in about 10 days. I Wonder how lethal FF6 will get...raping everyone in its way in every market it will be released. By the time IM3 will have generated enough cash to be the least hurt, but those that have still enough steam in them like STID and mainly Hangover III (WTF were they thinking releasing that movie at the same time ? ) will endure collateral damages of epic proportions... I wonder how severly it may hit them starting this coming weekend abroad. I really think, this movie is a wild card and may become one of the highest gross of 2013.

I too beleive that AVATAR is the most influential movie of the century so far, as opposed to TDK. I said AVATAR because TDK influence seems to be contained only in the US and to a lesser extent in the English markets and even there, i would say that the Harry Potter serie is more influential. AVATAR's run all over the world, its consistency makes it clear to me that some way, somehow it is indeed the most influential movie of the century so far. It has literally influenced on a global scale, a massive lot of different people all over the world. Noone can really explain why it had such an impact on the masses, why the constant run with extreme soft drops, getting records left and right, having several countries with a 100+ million gross, but something completely crazy happened...i mean $2 billion os in 2008, passing TITANIC for nearly $1 billion ! Maybe like i read, it's the whole peace and love concept in an imaginary perfect world where people live in harmony with nature that resonate in a lot of people...i don't know, but there is something there that have driven people en masse to see that movie. There are no words for this phenomenon. AVATAR, then HARRY POTTER are the most influential worldwide. Harry Potter basicly own the last decade in terms of consistency grossing extremely in all markets, in each continent. they are GLOBAL phenomenons and TA is following in that sense.. They all follow that global influence that TITANIC had in the 90's...They are GLOBAL phenomenons. That's why i don't see their massive OS runs running down anytime soon. I don't see their sequels going down on a worldwide scale.

TF3 really did it...but again coming from TF2 with $440+ millions is more complicated to double the take.

The timing will hinder its run for sure....taken in sandwish between IM3+Gatsby and FF6+ HGIII is the worst place of the month. It won't have enough time to breath and may slow down prematurally with its steam cut down by a double threat (FF6+HGIII). After that, come another sci fi, AE and i think people underestimate the lethal potential of that movie.

America ? This movie is doing ganbuster business all over the world. So no need to point fingers to one specific country. Why is Mc Donald chain so popular all over the world selling cheap food and making billions out of it ? Mediocrity is subjective and from all the movies out in May, none hold the candle as the high intellect one some make it sound to be as opposed to the likes of IM3. No Trek, no Gatsby, no nothing. They are ALL pure entertaining products with basic intellect value in them... And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, that's why most people will go to the theaters as opposed as watching TV : pure Entertainment and stress release. Books are the ones that have the most intellect stuff in them. Not movies whose investments are millions times more expensive. The best movies are often not released ands traight up to video. Few people know or are interesed about knowing the freshness and candor of the african movies from subsahrian regions, the intimacy and cinema d'auteur of old german, french or italian movies. The glamour of old morrocan movies. Finland has great movies too. Hollywood is for mass consumption and pure entertainment wether it's Trek, Gatsby or IM3.

STID has only next weekend and the week after to do major business before F6 and HGIII mess the party. So i expect Trek afficionados to come en masse next weekend. It will hinder for sur Gatsby and IM3.
