Sad that the streak of $40m openers ends this weekend.

I was going to say Grease. But then I remembered Mamma Mia!

Eh, I don't think they're DOA, but the summer placement is probably not good for them. Even so, JB only cost $40m to produce and it could hit that mark DOM, so it's probably going to break even. There needs to be intelligence in the production of the musical. In most cases, it doesn't make sense to break the bank because the audience isn't super wide. For most, you're probably looking at some modest box office returns, which means you need modest budgets. Into the Woods will be interesting to see, although it may only end up with Sweeney Todd numbers: solid, not great. However, for the uber musicals, the really big ones, there is still a huge upside. Les Miz did fantastic business. Wicked, when it comes out, will probably hit about that mark as well.

It's really difficult for me to express how much I love Thor. Except to say that I really love Thor. No other MCU film comes close.

Overall, it looks like a pretty good Saturday all around. TLAM2 dropped less than I expected. It's about flat with the non-preview Friday, right? JB is looking really close to Rock of Ages at this point. Meanwhile, I spent some time this evening listening to the Thor soundtrack and getting some productive writing in. I need to watch Thor again.

Where? I've never heard Millennial used to refer to anything else. The post-2000 generation is usually called Generation Z, but there are attempts to come up with other, better names.

Uh. Generation Y and the Millennial Generation are the same thing. It's the generation born after Gen X. The Millennial distinction isn't due to them being born around or after 2000, but rather that they came of age in the 21st century. The specific dates for each generation is a bit in flux, so Gen Y may have started anywhere from the late 70s to early 80s, and ended anywhere from the mid-to-late 90s to the mid 00s.

I fully expect Lego and Dragon to have nominations. I don't think either is necessarily a shoe in to win. We have to see how The Boxtrolls, Book of Life, and BH6 turn out for domestic films. And both When Marnie was There and Song of the Sea could make noise as well.Lego only has a head start in the sense that it came out first.
