  1. I'd guess that Lowell Cunningham has the comic rights, unless there was something involved with the contract of the film rights. The last company to publish anything MiB was Marvel, though.
  2. Zootopia - 81m London Has Fallen - 17m Whiskey Tango Foxtrot - 8m
  3. I doubt that. Zootopia isn't going to directly affect it and the other films have only slight interest. It should hold well until BvS.
  4. I wonder if we could see a first. In all previous times WDAS and Pixar have both been up for the award, Pixar has won. That might change this year.
  5. If only it had gotten VFX and/or Cinematography. Well, a tied record is nice.
  6. If you compare points in the run, DP still has a 37m dollar advantage. AS earned $100m over the rest of its run, so in order to match it, DP only needs another 63m. It can fall faster and still get there. Not saying it will, just that earning less per day isn't the end of the world because it's been ahead so far.
  7. Does anyone know if MMFR's 6 wins without a major award win (BP, BD, Acting, Screenwriting) is a record?
  8. I was thinking about this and how it is to be gracious when there's an award or competition on the line. Anyone can be gracious in victory. It's easy at that point to praise your competitors because you have the proof in prize. It's far harder to be gracious in defeat. Inarritu isn't especially gracious in either, but as this shows especially not in the latter. I wonder if Inarritu realizes that his award was pretty much entirely contingent on having Di Caprio playing the part of Hugh Glass. If not for that, and the whole narrative about how Leo is due, he wouldn't have gotten the directing award. Lubezki might have gotten cinematography, but I'm not sure even about that. Without Leo, The Revenant wouldn't have had the wide swath of nominations.
  9. Raiders of the Lost Ark vs. Star Wars V: The Empire Strikes Back The Godfather vs. The Lion King
  10. I will say that thanks to Best Song, Inarritu's win wasn't the most egregiously bad of the night.
  11. Weirdly the Spotlight win makes Inarritu getting Director all the more annoying.
  12. "Will my favorite film take home the Oscar"? Well, if you mean for BP, I highly doubt it.
  13. That was the moment when they collectively realized "Okay, yeah. We have a voting problem."
  14. I don't believe in "it's X's year" stories. Reward the performance, not the career. Stallone was great. Rylance was great. Either taking the award is good.
  15. So is it guaranteed that MMFR will take home more oscars than any other film? Can anything catch it?
