  1. Journey to the West is pretty bad. Hope for Shaolin Soccer quality, at least.
  2. I've been thinking that it would make more sense if the scoring was percentage based for being off. So the negative hit for missing a billion dollar film by 100 million would be the same as missing a 100 million film by 10.
  3. Yesterday when Chasmmi made the comment about us, I thought of joking that we came in 14th and 15th. Or 1st and 2nd. Not sure which would have been funnier, now that I think about it. I fully look forward to a third match in the summer. Worst preseason ever? Or worst preseason ever. And, yeah, I knew it was bad a while back. At the very least I'll have to hope better than punting the top 10 WW scores like I did. I suppose, OTOH, I punted the top 10 WW scores and Tele still couldn't catch me, so. ^_____^
  4. Even assuming that the current week only pushes it to 255 (should be a bit higher than that), it could take 50% weekly drops from there on out and still get to 330. 44% drops would push it past 350. 40% drops would have it above 365. 400m would need 34% drops, which probably won't happen, but I guess the dream still is alive. One or two good holds and it could make a run for it.
  5. No it wasn't a head scratcher. They wanted an opening that was bigger than Spider-Man's. The only way they could do that was to claim that the 4-day was at 115m. Pretty much everyone knew that they had vastly overestimated it.
  6. Man, if only I'd flipped my predictions for Race and Risen.
  7. Yeah. When HTTYD3 originally had a 2016 date, he said he wouldn't be able to do the score because he wanted to spend more time with his daughter or something. I'd guess that applies to all 2016 films (so KFP3 and Bourne). I hope he does come back.
  8. When the safe path is a -25k hit, it's going to be bad. I made all my choices to try and limit the damage and I think I still got burned, based on how some of the early questions went.
  9. Once I saw the Race numbers, I knew I wasn't going to repeat. Ah, well. It was a nice six days.
  10. Just so I have everything in one place, here's the BOFFY write-up I did for Fury Road:
  11. Yeah. One notable, and unfortunate, example of that sort of coincidence is The Raid: Redemption and DREDD. Both had a similar "get to the top of this building" plot and over the top violence. However, DREDD got knocked around by the comparison and I think that was part of the reason it suffered at the box office (not the entire reason, but part of it). Which is a pity, because it is a pretty great movie in its own right, even if it's not as innovative.
  12. Raiders of the Lost Ark vs. Back to the Future Star Wars IV: A New Hope vs. The Godfather The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King vs. The Lion King Jaws vs. Star Wars V: The Empire Strikes Back
  13. Pretty sure Jurassic Park's first run attendance is higher than any SW film except ANH and TFA, and it's not far behind either. The franchises may not be close overall, but JP has certainly shown it can get into the same ballpark. At the time the post was made, we had just seen an unprecedented run from JW. It was months before the marketing train for TFA exploded. It certainly wasn't a ridiculous stance to take.
  14. Justified snarkiness about TFA aside, great job with the whole thing @Spaghetti. It's always great you do the work to put this together and it's fun to see what the we collectively choose as the best things about movies in a given year.
  15. It's intriguing, but the teaser itself feels a little twee.
