To be honest, with remakes like Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, and The Lion King, did you really think they would have the balls to change too much of the movie? Of course they're going to be near shot-to-shot, that's sorta the points of these. Many may not understand why Disney is doing this (it's money, it's always money, stop acting dumb when you ask why are they doing this, you know why), but they basically allow people to see these movies in a live action setting. And after how much Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast and Jungle Book made, apparently people outside internet forums want to see these.
The Lion King is going to end up being the best of these.

So basically
Critics will likely hate it. It'll at least be the top box office of Memorial Day weekend, might even make good box office overall before making a nice cushy home on home video/Disney Plus, then we fast forward to Lion King making all the money making some people's victory articles about Aladdin causing Disney to stop making remakes mute..

This is the last thing the movie needed.
Release the song from the trailer. How does Disney get so much right for other movies and fuck the one up so much
Didn't they do the same thing with Beauty and the Beast, they released the John Legend/Grande cover a few weeks before release.

There will probably be a US premiere and we'll get better reactions shortly, POSSIBLY.

To be honest, I think anyone with common sense would know even if this movie was good it wouldn't touch the original
Still seeing it regardless for that nostalgia factor.
Also bring on Lion King

a horror film that will likely be PG-13 and rely on jump scares
Well most R-rated horror films these days are just jump scare central too

Aladdin doesn't even look like it was directed by Ritchie, much like how Dumbo really didn't look like a Burton film outside of a few design choices.

I've pretty much accepted it will be a big success, how much of one it will be is up to debate.

All this talk about Guy Ritchie with Aladdin and it doesn't even LOOK like a Guy Ritchie film.

I wish I could feel super happy for Captain Marvel's success outside of laughing at the dudebros who wanted it to fail but it's such a weak and sloppy MCU entry. Carol Danvers is a bland action woman right now and I hope they give her more of a personality going forward. Oh well, at least Endgame was sensational.
I actually liked Captain Marvel a lot, but Marvel usually does learn from its hiccups and missteps and changes things moving forward
Captain Marvel 2 will likely be wild.

It's just because Prince of Persia, Solo and Alice Through the Looking Glass flopped. Most of the times movies do decent in that slot.

Hopefully the movie's not super expensive like Dumbo.
It probably costs way more

Just have Sonic be inexplicably a 16-bit animated character throughout the entire movie or just a 2D animated character
Or just take the Wreck it Ralph model of the character, throw it in there and call it a day.

So, since they have a deal with Netflix now, how long will it be before Paramount just dumps the movie on the site?

I see this doing better than Dumbo.
Probably one of the few good Memorial Day weekends for Disney.
God help us when Marvel Studios starts eying the Memorial Day slot.

It's terrifyingly amazing how well Endgame is doing. It's like scary good.
We've hit peak MCU now

Higher than I expected to be honest.

The Anti-Detective Pikachu
What's worse is they seem to change the models face inbetween shots. At some points it looks okay, at others, OH GOD I'M GONNA DIE.

. . . .
At the rate it is going, is it likely to hit a billion domestic?
Aladdin live action movie | 24 MAY 2019 | Disney | 7th most profitable movie of 2019. Disney does it again!

It be too hard to change these four films too much, people would crucify them on the spot. People screamed Be Prepared wasn't in the Lion King remake for months due to some stupid internet rumor before low and behold, it's in the movie. If that was the case, imagine if they took Part of Your World out of the Little Mermaid remake for real and replaced it with some second rate replacement. People hate remakes on the internet forum, but most people hate change. So yeah, Disney's not going to change much, unless the original film is scant and simple like Jungle Book and Cinderella or the original version just outright failed like Pete's Dragon
But then again, when something original (not an adaptation, something wholly original) does comes out, we treat it with disdain, most of the time because said original movie is sometimes WORSE than remakes. Most of the time because said original movies these days try to remake other films for plot elements. Case in point Skyscraper, which is literally Die Hard, of course they say it's an homage, but even homage spice things up. I guess they did with Skyscraper a little because they forgot to give them an interesting villain.
I get the feeling that people do want original content, but at the same time, we don't. We're a fickle species, human beings.
