  1. There is nothing artsy-fartsy or alienating about Bikeriders or even Challengers. If standard dramatic vehicles is too “art” or “ponderous”, then we have a lot of problems with our culture and society in general.
  2. Recommend folks here catch it before it's gone. Great movie. Better than the last couple Mission: Impossibles tbh
  3. Early Deadline is early Deadline, but this seems low for Quiet Place. Though maybe I’m forgetting how frontloaded horror is or something.
  4. I mean yeah, but I guess I was just rationalizing. I just got out of Quiet Place, expected something super artsy or off-brand, and I really didn't. Just seemed weird, though I guess part of it is also that it doesn't have the characters people know and love from the other two, which I do kind of understand if that's some gripes. Well yeah. I agree it's the worst of the modern series. But I didn't think it was bad. It gave me what I wanted, and I was satisfied with it. Though I do hope they get another director on board for the next one, which I'm assuming is going to be the case.
  5. Gotta be honest, I don’t get this audience score discrepancy for Day One? Like yeah there are differences, but it’s got the same tension and suspense and action found in the other movies. It’s not this radical departure where I feel if you liked the last two you still wouldn’t like it. Felt the same way with the new Planet of the Apes, so maybe people want action constantly and no quiet moments? Idk idk
  6. https://deadline.com/2024/06/box-office-a-quiet-place-day-one-horizon-1235985586/ Deadline says 11.2 FWIW
  7. I've loved all of M. Night's movies since Split, but that was the last movie of his that earned strong reviews from both critics and the GA. I can't imagine Trap doing much to turn the tide sadly.
  8. Very curious now about what Part II would have opened to if COVID never happened. Because I was thinking somewhere in the 60s, but if a prequel with none of the main cast is getting to the mid 50s or higher? Then maybe this could have done 70+. Or 80+
  9. I mean that's what it was IIRC. I think it was going to be an HBO series, then was turned into a two-part movie epic because Costner had the clout and passion for that. Which to be honest, I do find that weirdly commendable, even if the final product reportedly isn't all that, and that idea does at least have some sort of potential behind it. I'm just bummed Costner's whole story likely isn't going to be told, unless they decide to have Parts 3 and 4 turned into a show/have huge budget cuts.
