Both "A Dogs" movies were based on books written by the same author. The film rights for both were given to different studios. And no, I don't get why they released both movies months apart from each other.

I've been to a couple advance screenings myself. Some were fun (Edge of 17, First Man), some not as much (Life Itself). I was almost going to go to a Pet Sematary screening, but something popped up last-minute, so I couldn't go (maybe it was a sign from God not to see it)

The first SLOP kind of feels like the first Fantastic Beasts, where it was leggy and people liked it, but not a lot of people loved it enough to see the characters again. Obviously that wasn't the main reason Grindelwald underperformed, but I don't really think Pets held onto the pop culture zeitgeist the same way the first Despicable Me did.
