  1. Its nationwide debut will be August 2, but it'll see expansions for both this and next weekend.
  2. Nickelodeon's a more popular and recognizable brand to people, and it gives Viacom more of an excuse to promote the film on the TV channel. That simple
  3. At this point right now, unless The Farewell completely bombs in its expansion, Awkwafina has to have a great chance at a nomination here, right? Especially since I'm pretty sure Erivo and Ronan are the only "safe" options atm
  4. @aabattery @Jake Gittes James Gray about to make the whole Fox deal worth it for Disney...yay?
  5. Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw Greater Philadelphia Area Seat Report T-16 Days and Counting Sellouts Showings Seats Sold Total Seats Perct Sold TOTALS 0 27 111 5,060 2.19% Total Showings Added Today: 2 Total Seats Added Today: 288 Total Seats Sold Today: 23 0.076x of The Lion King 16 days before release (The Lion King had 24 days of presales, while Hobbs & Shaw has 34 days of presales) T-16: Lion King: 102 tickets sold Finally, a decent number that's worth sharing. And we even have a comp...kind of. Obviously, these two aren't a perfect match, but what are you gonna do?
  6. The Lion King Greater Philadelphia Area Seat Report T-2 Days and Counting Sellouts Showings Seats Sold Total Seats Perct Sold TOTALS 0 112 4,783 19,516 24.51% Total Showings Sold Today: 5 Total Seats Added Today: 326 Total Seats Sold Today: 731 That's about a 57.5% jump from yesterday. From a raw numbers perspective, starting from a really high 464, that seems like a fantastic jump. Again, I have no comps, but 731 tickets is still 731 tickets.
  7. Yeah mods, it's been a couple weeks. I think it's okay to open the thread now.
  8. tbh if I wanted to produce a live-action Lion King, I would have gotten Julie Taymor to do it and have her re-create her vision from the Broadway show, costumes and all. It would make way less money, but it'd be cool.
  9. If you go on Thursday, you'll experience its magic on the big screen in surround sound (y'know, if you actually get it and Uni doesn't do Trolls 2 or whatever)

  11. https://variety.com/2019/film/news/ad-astra-joker-rambo-the-aeronauts-venice-film-festival-1203268644/ Big rumors for Venice so far are the Noah Baumbach movie with Adam Driver/ScarJo, The Pope, The King (👀), The Aeronauts, Against All Enemies, The Truth (Hirokazu Kore-eda's next movie), Ad Astra, Joker, and...the new Rambo movie? The Irishman, The Goldfinch, and Gemini Man aren't expected though.
  12. Very odd fellow he is. The only movies he ever seems to watch or talk about are Disney movies, yet he lives in a constant fear of every Disney movie underperforming. Homeboy really out here worrying if Bob Iger can pay for his big yacht that holds all of his smaller yachts.
  13. MPR didn't start selling tickets until a couple days after that TV special aired.
