Don't want to get hounded by Beyonce stans and casuals in the Lion King thread, so might as well post it here. As if I couldn't be more annoyed at this movie's existence.
Christmas movies, especially ones targeted towards families, typically have very strong holds on the Thanksgiving weekend, even with more competition. A Christmas Carol back in 2009 saw an increase over that weekend, as did Elf and Polar Express.
Pretty low on the movie ads on the Thanksgiving parade. Christmas-wise, only Poppins and Spiderverse got ads. Last year had TLJ, Jumanji, Pitch Perfect, and Greatest Showman. Pretty sure Ferdinand was another one too. Weird.
But at least they had to deal with a Star Wars movie sucking up all
the showtimes, so theaters didn’t want to (or couldn’t) give those movies previews. What’s Poppins’ excuse?
Mary Poppins tickets have showtimes but not tickets available.
What's weird is that there aren't any Tuesday previews...but there's also a "fan event" on Tuesday at 7 in Dolby at a couple of AMCs...why not just do Tuesday previews?
Ehh, I can see Ali finding his way in. From what I've seen, even people critical of the movie acknowledge him as a standout. And again, ultra-barren category. As for Mortensen...well, I'm not gonna say he's dunzo, but Hawke, Malek, and Gosling can breathe a little easy.
