I can't wait for this movie to come out. Not that I'm excited for it, but it feels like 80% of all of the movies I've seen lately have this playing as one of the previews. This is my Spider's Web, and I'm sick of watching it.

A few theaters might have a movie on sale earlier than planned. Sometimes it's a communication error, other times it may be a test. Deadpool 2 and Crimes of Grindelwald did the same thing. We'll probably get a trailer or TV spot or something very soon though that promotes tickets being on sale now. Also of note, Bumblebee has showtimes posted, but are still grayed out, meaning you can't buy them yet. The earliest showtimes start at 5, like Aquaman, Beasts, and Venom before it. I guess this is the new normal now.

That's what Box Office Mojo has right now. It could change, especially considering Pixar's leadership changes, but I'm basing it off of that for now.

Also for funsies, my predictions for what the untitled Disney movies will probably be (I might do the other studios later): February 14: The One and Only Ivan March 6: The Suburban Fantasy Pixar Project May 1: Black Widow June 19: The Mark Andrews Pixar Project October 9: Cruella November 25: Dragon Empire December 23: Pinocchio

The reason why 2020 seems like an "off" year is because we still have a whole bunch of untitled features. By the time next year rolls around, the schedule will seem a lot more meaty, as more projects get announced and placed around the schedule.

I believe Disney recently hired someone who has had great success with awards contenders as an awards coordinator. It's also arguably helped by a lot of commercial releases like First Man and Widows underperforming, which will hurt them when it comes to awards. Stuff like Panther and Poppins can fit in as the populist hits.

Stuff like Lady Bird and Three Billboards last year managed to have killer PTAs and good holds last year, so don't give me any of that "art house and adult movies are a dying breed." Obviously I don't expect stuff like Boy Erased, CYEFM, Beautiful Boy, and the like to do gangbusters and make $100M or whatever, but they're delivering average PTAs and poor holds when just last year, we've had several indie breakout. That's a problem to me.

Yikes at CYEFM dropping 40% despite a 100+ theater increase. It might not even reach $10M. Relating, it's depressing how mediocre the awards contenders/indies have done this season. Seems like everything art house-wise has done mediocre results at best from September to now. The Favourite better do a $100K PTA or something next weekend.
