  1. I watch Abbott Elementary live and it’s always funny to see this different world of TV and saying to myself, “The Conners is still making new episodes? They still have Grey’s Anatomy airing? What the hell is an Alaska Daily?”
  2. Following Shang-Chi’s IM gets you 32.5M. If that happens, this is kind of a miracle, considering that old people don’t go to the theaters anymore and said old folks have the Queen Latifah show to watch at home. Good for Denzel. Always nice to see him winning.
  3. Just watched this earlier today and it's easily one of the funniest movies I've seen in ages. So absurdist and hysterical, with its odd little world and characters that are all hilarious and memorable. It's the kind of movie where you need to see it 2 or 3 times just so you can notice all the jokes you missed, and it's nice to have a movie like this again. I wish we had more comedies like this.
  4. A sequel feels kind of premature for a film that still just broke even, and I feel the movie works well with the conclusion it has IMO. But I guess I can't stop them and it seems likely to get an increase I suppose.
  5. I thought AMPTP productions couldn't get interim agreements. @Plain Old Tele how does this work? Because that seems odd that shows like these are getting a pass when they are from major TV studios.
  6. NOVA Welcome back mah boi. Feels like it’s been ages since you posted here
  7. Moderation We're not doing this "short runtime means bad movie" stuff anymore. It's leading to nothing but toxic fights that aren't going anywhere and we have zero reason to believe that this will result in a bad movie. And no, I don't care what "evidence" you have. Please talk about something else, or threadbans will occur.
  8. You can't embed when you have x.com. You have to manually change it to twitter.com for it to embed. We're trying to figure out how to fix this, but I just embedded this for you.
  9. Pretty sure this series will just be shorts like all the other Disney/Pixar "series" have been. These shows really just exist as replacements for the bonus feature shorts you would get in the DVD. But I guess they could be cute and shows Disney wants to keep the franchise popular and in the limelight.
  10. Another interesting detail I'm surprised you didn't mention was how the film sadly destroyed finances and grants given to films by the National Endowment of the Arts (NEA) because of bigotry and Republicans being Republicans. A lesbian sex scene was in this, some Washington Times writer threw a fit because lesbians and Black women and sex, then Republican rep Peter Hoekstra used this as a vessel that led to the NEA using their funding on a "case-by-case basis", rather than giving funds to art groups in general, which only hurt the diversity of all the projects for everybody. It's a very sad part of this film's legacy, but a necessary one to show how evil conservatism can be in terms of censoring art and the long-lasting damages they have given towards tons of queer artists and queer people in general.
  11. Not really. It's actually largely because animated movies typically don't get a ton of PLFs in the first place. Unless you're a major property like Mario or a big sequel like Toy Story 4 or Minions 2, you're not getting IMAX or PLFs, since families typically don't buy premiums anyways. Even Wreck-It Ralph 2 didn't get IMAX due to Fantastic Beasts 2 and only got them a week or two after release, because Beasts 2 failed to make much money out of it and there was nothing else to replace it with. Wish will likely get few premiums as well in favor of Napoleon, but it's not because "oh no Disney movies bomb now", but because of the market and how these type of movies sell.
  12. There is truly nothing in this world I fear more than a Swiftie. And I know from experience with my family.
  13. Guys, I'm not always on social media. I don't think I even follow Swift on social media 😆
  14. Don't think so. If there's public information about this Eras theatrical release, feel free to make one.
  15. Seems a bit high. Shang-Chi's IM with 3M would get it to 25.7M. And that movie is two years old and had previews start at 6PM. Even moving it up a tad, to like 9x its preview, is still just 27M. Which would still be good and fine for this, especially since its target audience don't go to the movies anymore and it's the last movie anyways.
