This was cute when the first Spider-Verse did the meme, but we really need some new material these days.

Was thinking the same thing. All the smart prognosticators here, Nash and Han and Clay, are all on board with Barbie getting a Best Picture nomination, and like...am I going crazy here? Are we really doing this after Lego Movie whiffed Best Animated Feature all these years ago?

Subject to change by tomorrow of course, but I think this has to be the first time ever that two #1 openings in a row, this and Little Mermaid, where Caucasians weren't the majority audience. I think that's pretty neat.

I said since day 1 this is like Shrek to Shrek 2. Although I think the gains will be higher compared to that film. Either way, it’s crazy.

Weren't Luca and Turning Red made under Docter's leadership? I think it's unfair to write things off with him like this when we already have two good ones out of his oversight.

This reminds me of a story @DAJK told. IIRC, when the movie Justice League was coming out, the theater chain he was at were betting big, in fairness due to tracking from the trades, but DAJK knew that his theater had to scale way back, because BOT showed the numbers weren't there. His boss said him and his knowledge saved the theater from losing tons of money that weekend.

The first Spider-Verse actually didn't skew very Black believe it or not. Only 16% African-American compared to 43% Caucasian and 21% Latino. The ratios should be quite different with this movie, considering there are less Caucasian viewers in general, but it is peculiar.
