I have no idea what holds look like, but I do think in case things are soft or drops look bad that we do need to take the wildfire stuff into consideration. Movie theaters didn’t close obviously, but in a lot of places, especially New York, it was pretty awful air to get through. And I don’t think people are willing to go through Arrakis just to see a movie on a weekday. It’s not the same weather issue as a blizzard or hurricane, but I don’t think we should ignore the impacts. It’ll likely be even worse tomorrow, so do keep that in mind for Transformers’ preview numbers.

2024 Box Office Predictions and Discussion
Eric the Clown replied to kayumanggi's topic in Box Office Discussion
Saw this tweet a few days ago, and now knowing that Beyond the Spider-Verse isn't even close to ready...next year's gonna be 2021 levels of barren. One step forward, two steps back kind of stuff. -

Expend4bles | September 22, 2023
Eric the Clown replied to Eric the Clown's topic in Box Office Discussion
I'm sure I'm forgetting something obvious, but has there ever been a good movie where the sequel/number related to the movie is in the title itself? Like Expend4bles, Fant4stic, that kind of stuff. I guess the closest thing is...does Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa count? -
Moderation Had to give...four users warning points? So I'm gonna make things brief. This whole "critics don't get it" crap is not going to happen here anymore. The anti-critic circlejerks that happen every time they say mean things about a dumb kids movie, a kids movie that will make more money than you will ever make in your lifetime, a kids movie that only exists to sell toys and t-shirts and bedsheets to children, is beyond tired and beyond childish. No, there's no grand conspiracy out there targeting DC movies. No, people aren't being "unfair" or "biased" towards a movie that's from a brand you're loyal to. If anything, it's ridiculous so many of you are leaping to defend a movie made by a megacorporation like this. So to everybody doing this, including @Warmaster506 @Johnny Tran @stephanos13, stop this now, or you will see a threadban. Trust me. I am not joking. You've been warned. I apologize for sounding harsh and mean, but this is the only way some of you will listen. So I hope the message is loud and clear. Okay? Okay.

Moderation Well, guess I now have to give my warning. We are not doing this whole "GRR CRITICS BAD" "Well, critics said it was good in one movie , but said it was bad in here. HYPOCRITES HYPOCRITES HYPOCRITES" "CRITICS ARE OUT TO GET DC" It's all hyperbolic nonsense. One movie can execute something and make it entertaining and fun, while another one can do it poorly. And there's plenty of evidence of DC movies being well-regarded critically. There's no conspiracy out to get the movies you like, and you frankly sound ridiculous for doing all this. You don't need to defend some corporate product designed to sell toys to children because meanie critics said mean things about it. You're adults, so please act like one. And if you do this crap again, you will see a threadban. Your choice.

Because certain users here have it out for this movie and want to see it bomb. Can't imagine why. 🙄

To clarify things for everybody... Yes, you can link EC's Twitter posts. I would very much prefer if you didn't do this, because he bullied me on a daily basis, but I can't stop anybody from doing so. To do so otherwise would break moderation rules. But I do think there should be courtesy and that this forum would be a million times better off if he was never brought up here again.

It's kind of like when they tried to push 3D TVs a few years ago and posited these as "the future" and "the new way forward for television", when the appeal of 3D is something you do for a couple hours at the movies, not the main way you watch media. And at least with those, you get more than one pair of glasses packaged into the set. Even if you want to use it recreationally, this isn't something you can really share the experience with when you have friends in the room, plus you have to turn it off if you want to use the bathroom or get a snack. Maybe Spielberg should have shown why those headsets would be annoying and cumbersome in the Ready Player One universe, so that this mess never would have happened.
