  1. Roger Ebert had The Stanton-Walsh Rule, where no movie that had either Harry Dean Stanton or M. Emmett Walsh could be altogether bad. The reverse of that rule would definitely have Corden in there. Who else would apply?
  2. I've only listened to Lost Things, Trip a Little Light, and Can You Imagine That so far. Don't want to totally spoil myself. But man, all three are absolutely stellar. If it weren't for I'll Never Love Again, all of these would be my favorite original songs in a movie this year. All hail Marc Shaiman.
  3. No. The Dec. 28th weekend doesn't have any wide releases, so we won't get any pieces of tracking until in a few days before the Dec. 14th offerings.
  4. The whole soundtrack's up on Disney's VEVO page https://www.youtube.com/user/DisneyMusicVEVO/videos
  5. Clay already mentioned Emily Blunt, but I think they should go for the Krasinski-Blunt combo as hosts this year. They're a real-life couple, so there's no worry about chemistry. Like the year Seth MacFarlane hosted, both of them are off of banner years, with A Quiet Place, Mary Poppins, and Jack Ryan all being critical and commercial hits. They're well-liked by the industry, they have no spotty past, and they can offer the class and comedy hosts like these would have.
  6. Bumblebee Total 420 450 474 Bumblebee Early 207 281 297 So Monday's sales were 49% tickets for this Saturday, Tuesday's were 62%, and Wednesday's were 63%. Yeah, the early-access shows are definitely inflating the total here. It probably doesn't matter that much, since the people buying tickets on Saturday were probably going to buy tickets on opening weekend anyway, but it should still be a cause for concern. Then again, Bumblebee's ticket sales might see a boost with good WOM, so what do I know?
  7. Don't really see the point in doing so, at least compared to everything else. It's so radically different from everything else (re-release, 12 day limited engagement) that there aren't any good comps, and I don't really think there's much interest in that. Also, I'm already looking at 8 other movies, possibly 10 if Holmes & Watson or Vice pop up randomly. Maybe I'll do it if the demand is there.
  8. I just realized Mary Poppins didn't get a Song nom. That's some BS right there
  9. Movie/Day Monday Tuesday Wednesday Mortal Engines 81 71 116 The Mule 7 18 18 Spider-Verse 722 757 1365 Mary Poppins 913 867 919 Aquaman 1263 1101 1153 Bumblebee 420 450 474 Second Act 0 2 1 Marwen 0 0 1 The Spider-Verse jump is being inflated by this weekend's preview screenings, but it's still doing very well. I plan to extrapolate the Bumblebee numbers later and see how much it's being inflated by the previews this Saturday. It seems like a good chunk of Bumblebee's tickets are from these early screenings just through a quick scan.
  10. They also like At Eternity's Gate? Haven't seen it, but the film doesn't seem like something the HFPA would be into either.
  11. And also Best Picture - Comedy, Best Actor - Comedy (Bale), Best Supporting Actress (Adams), Best Supporting Actor (Rockwell), and Director
  12. CHALABAE GETS SUPPORTING ACTOR IN A NO1CURR MOVIE ONLY ONE MORE STEP TOWARDS THE OSCARS
  13. I'm shocked Beale Street didn't get a Score nomination.
  14. https://deadline.com/2018/12/golden-globes-box-office-boost-the-favourite-mary-queen-of-scots-vox-lux-ben-is-back-1202514515/ Ralph: 15.3-16.6 Grinch: 10.7-11.6 Creed: 10-10.8 Mary Queen of Scots and Ben is Back have 4 theaters this weekend and Vox Lux will get 6. . The Favourite will be in 93 theaters this weekend, The Wife will expand to 541, and Green Book will go to 1,165. Can You Ever Forgive Me will depend on Globe noms apparently. Weird at how little Green Book is expanding.
  15. It was likely going to flop anywhere, but in December, it can at least benefit from Christmas legs and get a little bit more than what it would get in any other month. (Yes I know it's getting the short end of the stick when it comes to IMAX and PLFs)
