I’m still here. Holding out hope at a 400m WW total for KotM. Really depends on how it holds in China and Japan. Anyway, GvsKong should be bigger just because of the title. We’ll see what happens. Was totally wrong with how KotM would perform.

EVERY franchise has a box office disappointment. You don’t just throw in the towel. Plus Legendary literally has nothing else(besides Pokémon now). KotM still has a shot at 400 WW.. disappointing but also nothing to sneeze at. Like I said, KotM was a Godzilla fans dream that didn’t stick with the GA. I would say G14 was definitely more a GA friendly film(despite the flaws we’ve all heard). GvsKong IS a novelty film. That alone will make it a success. They will have to find that balance to make it for the GA and fans. The Netflix stuff is dumb.. enough of that.

Doesn’t seem to be holding in Japan as much as I would have like(around -45) but could be because how insane Aladdin is doing there. Would imagine 30+m should happen still. Would love 35-40 there.

Well how we looking today boys! Glad KotM seems to have come back alive here. Well looks like a 111m total for KotM. Can it pull it off and get to 140? Maybe more? It’s catching up to Dark Phoenix already so possibly? Boy KotM is lucky it came alive in China....

Yeah that KotM drop kind of sucks. I’m going to take that as that we know monster films can drop hard its second weekend plus it lost all imax screens. I would imagine its drop next weekend should stabilize a bit... hopefully anyway!

KotM was a straight up Godzilla fan boy film(hey I loved it!). GvsKong needs to be more than that and that’s what LP and WB will have to figure out if they push this back.

The whole Batman vs Superman thing is stupid anyway... like Batman won! What did people actually expect? him to kill Superman?

Nah Godzilla has done tag teams forever. Why would anyone want one to kill the other anyway?

My prediction is Kong beats Godzilla... becoming “King Kong”. However he doesn’t kill Godzilla. King Kong roars, beats his chest! But now there’s a bigger threat that arrives with Kong and other Titans getting destroyed by this new threat... Godzilla rises from his defeat to King Kong, beaten and battered, observes the other Titans being manhandled by whatever. We get this emotional music starting to play as Godzilla walks(we’re seeing this from the POV of Zilla) towards the new threat. We see the threat killing some Titans. As Godzilla approaches he sacrifices himself to destroy the threat but save whatever Titans are still alive. Could look pretty cool on screen.

Let’s hope! I think losing imax screens will obviously hurt it. I think it’ll stabilize as you have predicted next weekend. Hopefully 110-120 is still obtainable.

Any of our China experts up right now for a quick Saturday update? About noon now. Curious how KotM is doing!

Hoping Deadline is off with Godzilla’s number. My theater did decent today for KotM and tomorrow looks pretty darn good too.

Needs to be at or over 300m WW after this weekend. KotM is at 193 now, but does NOT include China’s weekday which has added an additional 27ish and will probably add another 20m between Saturday and Sunday there(possibly more with it being a holiday and a strong Friday hold). That alone gets it up to 240. Japan we should add another 10m between weekday and this weekend. That’s 250. Here domestically it’ll add a disappointing 15m over the weekend. That adds up to 265. Can all other markets get us just 35m between last week and this weekend to get us to 300m? I would hope so and hopefully see over that...

I’d imagine the drop this weekend would be rough considering it looses its imax screens(hopefully not that much though).... but it should then stabilize next weekend etc.

Hoping Godzilla can do a bit more than that... at least 18m. Trying to push it to 120m domestically. Needs just 60m more for that... might be tough. Can someone do a breakdown with a 60% drop this weekend then 55 the rest?

Yeah getting to 140m will definitely help its 400m WW chances. We’ll see how it holds in Japan this weekend. Looks like it held decent enough during the week. Would be great if it came out of the weekend there with 20m in the bag, I’m more thinking 17-19 after the weekend. It could hold better domestically too lets not forget. Hoping it can squeeze its way to at least 120. Maxing the big 3 we get: 140 120 40 =300m Surely the other markets can get 100 total
