How are our holdovers looking?
-
I don't want a sequel being made only because of China(see Pacific Rim Uprising). Really want this to hit 100m domestically, but infinity war has really cut into it.
-
What are the chances of Rampage holding better? IFW really killed it more than I thought it would. Still hoping for a 100m domestic run.
-
In the end this will probably get really close to 400m WW. Decent enough for its budget.

You told us Wonder Woman was "borderline mess" and Justice League was "Fine".
You might know box office but you know jack shit about what constitutes a good movie.
Opinions aren't facts yo

Government Negan stole it for me.
Haha, yeah he was definitely in Negan mode for some reason..
Anyway, hope this squeezes past 100m Dom. Need a sequel.

Watched Rampage tonight to a surprised full house. That movie is pretty damn fun. Didn't find Rock distracting so that was good... All the monsters were badass, but George obviously stole the show.

Now just get a quick glance of Carnage in the final trailer and oh boy the hype will be on.

This might actually end up doing pretty good...

A little research indicates there is some movie called Avengers: Infinity Wars. Never heard of it. seems super obscure
What's an Avenger? Related to a Ranger Solo?

No way Rampage misses 100m now. It would have to totally collapse, which there's no signs of. It'll benefit from IW bleedover sellouts too.
It has a shot at 150m in China. Would be surprised if WB doesn't do a sequel.
-
This might just squeeze out a sequel.

Nice for Rampage. WB didn't push it very hard, and good audience WOM looks to be driving it. Seems to be having a very solid OS opening as well. WB can probably get a sequel out for this with a bigger budget.
Truth or Dare made its money back. Good for them.

My theater is selling Rampage tickets pretty good tonight.

Honestly, Rampage is doing fine. I don't think WB pushed it very hard, and considering that and being sandwiched, it's doing ok. There's definitely room for a sequel though. It's doing really well in China.

If the US and China numbers were reversed then yes but not with just 25% from China and very little ancillary from that market.
Well it's going to make more than that 125m in other territories most likely. That'll help.

There's no way the general audience know it's based on a video game. Just don't see that. However, it does go under the video game adaption category.
Anyway. It needs like 75m here. Looksime it'll have a nice breakout in China. 200m from US+China looks like it'll happen. Everywhere else should get it to 325+m. WB might have a mini franchise here. Just don't be dumb like Legendary (Pacific Rim Uprising) and release the sequel 5 years later.l.

I hope Godzilla: Monster Planet 2 doubles what the first did. That shouldn't be too hard considering the first only did 4m there, and it's a summer release. I guess having Mechagodzilla will boost some interest too. Predicting a 10m total for that. Would be odd if it made more than that.
-
I think Rampage will end up hitting 100m. They love their monkeys there!

This doesn't feel like a video game movie. Nor did Tomb Raider. Though, I guess we're just talking about video game ADAPTIONS.
The Rock being in this might help it in other countries, but straight up monster movies always drop... Besides King Kong films for some reason.
I'll go with 33/100 domestic. That's a generous multiplier for this type of film though. Same thing overall in China, 45/100. OS-China 150 total for 350 WW. Should be enough to see profit for a smart budgeted film.

If it does 200m$ you can expect a sequel announcement.

Can Rampage squeeze in another 10m for 160m total? In the end, a pretty great run for the film in China.
