Uhhhhhh... This was much better than I was expecting it to be. Boyega and teen girl were pretty good. I didn't have any problem with Scott Eastwood?
I don't think this was as good as the first, but the battles were good enough. I think this movie deserves better then what its getting.

Yeah, like someone said, this 25m opening for PRU doesn't seem as bad as it could have been, however now that it's looking like it's not breaking out in China, the Pacific Rim franchise could be officially dead... Though it probably should have been after the first film. LP should have gone with a MonsterVerse film(not necessarily Godzilla 2) instead of this risky move with Pacific Rim. I have no idea how the budget got all the way to 150m.. should have been at max 120m.

Sounds like the film does what it's intended to do honestly. If it makes deadlines 26m this weekend that doesn't seem bad considering the first made a little over 30m OW.

Loving all these giant monster films. Don't care for Dwayne Johnson being in this.. but it looks fun.

Yeah, surprised at the RT score! Gives me hope we'll have at least an enjoyable SFX monster film. I think BP is going down... Too many people on spring break for a movie like this to not at least hit 20m... Hell, I wouldn't be surprised at a 30m weekend with it being spring break.

I'm pretty sure Legendary benefits from being a Chinese studio basically. While yes it's important to make money everywhere, I think they get more $ for being under Wanda.

So what do you guys think Pacific Rim Uprising will open to? I'm thinking a 25m opening unfortunately. Was made for its overseas potential.

Who really are these fans ? Toho? Japan? The chinese audience backing the hero whose gonna vanquish the fabled Japanese Legend ?
Do the film makers actually cares who wins ? Maybe there's a more popular choice between the 2 guys depending on different people but calling them "fans" of a franchise in its infancy is a but far off
There are plenty of fans of these characters, just like there's fans for the mcu etc.
However, that's not what will make this film successful or not. Movies gotta be good first.

Yup, I think that's the best route to go.

I think DC needs to doing this cinematic universe slightly different. What I mean is stop the crossover with other heroes and just do single super hero films and which ones really do well (Wonder Woman) continue with a part 2 etc... If Aquaman really takes off, well work on part 2 before something else that you're not comfortable with.
For some reason it feels like rushed crossovers, but Marvel has success with that.
