  1. The other main takeaway should be: Zoe Saldana as blue/green skin characters = $$$$$$$.
  2. Even just a few weeks ago I would've thought $60M would've been fantastic for this. But $90M+? Holy fucking shit.
  3. I really thought Guardians wouldn't impact it since the audience for it is primarily over the age of 40, but I guess not. If next week wasn't so packed it likely would've opened then (since The Hundred-Foot Journey doesn't look to make much of an dent at all).
  4. That number for Guardians of the Galaxy is as astonishing as that number for Get on Up is disappointing (really thought that would do around $7M at the minimum).
  5. Deadline is reporting that Get on Up is looking at a $14-15M for the weekend. It's still too early, but that would be very disappointing.
  6. I was just looking at the schedule in the weeks ahead and the only movies being released on August 29 and September 5 are...The November Man, As Above So Below, and The Green Inferno. Oy the box office is gonna look depressing.
  7. The Expendables 3 is looking to be an almost total non-event, so I don't think it has anything to worry about on that front.
  8. James Gunn's previous writing credits include the two Scooby-Doo movies and the Dawn of the Dead remake. lolz
  9. John C. Reilly is an Oscar nominee too. Also, Close has not won an Oscar. She's just been nominated 6 times.
  10. People who think Glenn Close and Helen Mirren are even close to same person:
  11. Unless she's uncredited, no. They must have her confused with Glenn Close lol.
  12. And his sister on that show, Emily Van Camp, is not doing bad for herself between headlining a popular/much-talked-about show (Revenge) and a supporting role in Captain America 2 that I assume will extend to other movies in this universe.
  13. LOL Jolie just had a movie open to $70M. You need to reevaluate your definition of "done."
  14. It did $371,000 last night but we all know that this is the kind of movie that will make 99.9% of its business over the weekend and not on Thursday night.
  15. They see me trollin', they hatin' patrollin' and tryin' to catch me trollin' dirty
  16. Nikki Finke and Anita Busch are the much, much, much, much, much, much less cool Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Watson.
  17. Are you kidding? She already knows the opening weekend numbers for As Above, So Below four weeks in advance.
  18. OMG IT'S ONLY 1:53 PM! These early numbers are impossible to take seriously.
  19. One moment in time. People were seeking familiar/comforting comedy at the time and that film fit the bill. Expect the at least 4 years too late sequel next year to drop off big time.
