Tammy's a hit, people. Just because it's not gonna gross nearly as much as The Heat doesn't mean it's not doing well. Some of you really need to stop letting your expectations color everything else.

No kidding: when I was at the movies a while ago I saw one of the marketing displays for Sex Tape and someone had written "Too Old" on Cammy D's legs. That's probably funnier than the movie itself.

Lol some probably do. But the premise of this seemed a little too far-fetched (and the ads didn't hint at any comic potential in it).

The Other Woman had a premise many women can relate to. Sex Tape, not so much.

It's simultaneously crazy and hysterical to think that Captain America 2 won the summer box office...by not participating in the summer box office.

The fact it and (especially) The LEGO Movie have a legit shot at finishing in the top 5 of the year makes me want to do a happy dance.

I'm not celebrating it (this summer's schedule is blah that I really don't give two shits either way), but I felt from the beginning that this summer might not have a $250M+ grosser and now that it's turned out to be a reality...there ya go!

So now it's officially official with these Apes numbers that there will be no $250M+ grosser this summer (unless Guardians really breaks out but that's unlikely).

Sex Tape appears to have been a victim of a classic case of everything going wrong: terrible ads, poor reviews, inconsistent/not always reliable stars (plus I can't imagine Segel's almost disturbingly slimed down appearance in this made it look any more appealing), a generally lackluster box office environment, bad...well, pretty much everything.

Whelp, no way around it, Sex Tape is a huge underperformer. I guess it's a good thing it moved off August 1 (since it probably would've done worse opening then)?

Get on Up is going to do very well. $100M+ for sure.

I've seen the trailer a few times. It looks blah, but I like Chloe Moretz so I hope it succeeds for her.

I figured it would do well since it seemed to have a lot for going until the weekend came along. But in the end, it had almost everything working against it so, yeah, I can't say I'm too surprised.

Considering we're now well into the summer (compared to early June), I doubt it.

I saw one episode of this where the Jonathan Groff character and the person he was hooking up with were about to get it on and Groff said "oh" and that he was "disappointed" when he saw the guy's uncut penis. I screamed "WHUT WHO DOES THAT?!" at my TV.

I've been to movies on weekdays in the afternoon later in their runs that were more attended than that.

By the way, it's been a rough summer for family films outside of Maleficent. Dragon 2 and Planes 2 are gonna finish much lower than the originals, and Earth to Echo was a total non-event. Kids and their parents are just finding other things to do this summer.
