  1. "Are?" Those shows are 10 years old, I find that very interesting.
  2. Well, with HTTYD2 underperforming domestically, HTTYD3 is probably going to be the END of a great animated franchise (which is OK, I don't want an unnecessary fourth part, or future entries not guaranteed to be helmed by Dean DeBlois). With no WC, I hope 3 performs in Brazil the way 2 should have.
  3. Even though he has no POWERS, does The Rocketeer count? (That movie was basically what got Joe Johnston the CA:TFA gig, right?)
  4. Wow, so the reported $153.2m OS cume really DOESN'T include the money from the UK previews? If so, sketchy as that is, at least it'll make next weekend's OS total look better.
  5. That poster is cool, but it just reminds me of 10,000 B.C. a little too much.If only WE had that poster. I haven't seen a single piece of promotional material that isn't just DwayJo with a long wig and beard that makes it hard to tell that it's actually The Rock.
  6. Wasn't questioning that. Was just musing on a possible reason for how that stupid myth got started in the first place, and wondering whether someone watching it on Blu-Ray would instantly be able to tell it's a cardboard cutout of Danson.
  7. I'm convinced that whole story exists because the picture quality of VHS was sufficiently low for it to not be clear that the face is Danson's.Is it on Blu-Ray yet? It's probably much easier to tell what that is there.
  8. Oh god, that ghost. That's stupider than the hanging Munchkin story.
  9. I don't feel pressured. My point was that I was born when a lame movie was #1.
  10. Three Men and a Baby. Still haven't ever seen it.
  11. Australia is like a mirror-universe opposite of the U.S. - Dragon INCREASES during the same holiday weekend, it is doing BETTER than 22JS...
  12. I agree that Ghostbusters II is underrated, but disagree that it's better than the first.Super Mario Bros. is enjoyable despite its flaws, Dennis Hopper chews scenery like a boss (in a good way), and for someone who hated every minute working on it, and resented the film for the rest of his life, Bob Hoskins put in a darn good performance.
  13. HTTYD3 could theoretically be rushed to March 2016, but I'd rather see Trolls get fast-tracked and HTTYD3 put into the pre-Thanksgiving slot.I honestly have no idea how DW is going to get out of this schedule fix without something getting cancelled or pushed to 2019.
  14. Is that your opinion, or do you have some insider info ? You worded it as if you know something we don't.It was only announced a couple months ago, that would be the fastest time between announcement and cancellation I'd have ever seen. The "Newt/Me and My Shadow rule" (which I just made up) of long-gestating promising projects getting unjustly cancelled dictates that the "Monkeys of Mumbai/Mumbai Musical/Bollywood Superstar Monkey" film is in the most danger of getting canned, since it was announced in 2011 and has been delayed twice in the past 6 months. I hope it doesn't come to that.I, too, would scrap Boss Baby right now.
  15. So I guess the number Fox reported for Rio 2 included previews? That makes HTTYD2's weekend increase even better - it actually BEAT the official opening of the newer animated release! And they both have the same distributor!
  16. Possibly based on this book? http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/1442487798?pc_redir=1404502145&robot_redir=1I find it interesting that we already know more about films that are coming out AFTER it. Anna Kendrick was cast for Trolls, and all the leads for Captain Underpants were announced in January (Kevin Hart and Thomas Middleditch as the two kid protagonists, Nick Kroll as the villain and Ed Helms in the title role), but we know NOTHING about Boss Baby other than the director and release date.
  17. I enjoy PR in spite of Hunnam's character, who I consider another Bland, Mildly Handsome, Decently Built, Slightly Rugged White Guy Lead. There are way too many of these. Garrett Hedlund in Tron Legacy, Taylor Kitsch in Battleship (and to a lesser extent, John Carter), Aaron Taylor-Johnson in Godzilla. Despite my nickname, my problem isn't that they are white or male, it's that they (or at least, their characters) have all the charisma of a Ken doll. Interesting characters and stuff happen AROUND them, sure, but they aren't interesting in the slightest. They aren't even compelling as audience surrogates in the way that Mark Hamill was as Luke Skywalker.
  18. I remember seeing PR on opening night in Regal RPX/Dolby Atmos, and the sound levels were cranked so high that this prologue gave me physical pain. I was almost uncomfortable throughout the rest of that screening.
  19. I think it also opened in most of the smaller European markets this weekend? The reports say it's now in 59 markets total. IMDB lists Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland as having released this past few days. (I can't find any info on when it releases in Austria.) And I believe this was also its official release weekend in Hong Kong. But none of the actual OW numbers for those countries were mentioned in the reports.
  20. And correction about Australia - forgot that TF4 opened LAST weekend. Still amazing that Dragons increased almost 20% against both TF4's second weekend AND direct competition from Rio 2...
  21. How did Dragon manage a nearly 20% increase with not only competition from TF4, but also Rio 2 opening on the same weekend?
