  1. Highest opening Weekend PAST Highest Opening Day ABSTAIN Lowest Opening Weekend ABSTAIN Lowest Opening Day ABSTAIN Highest 2nd weekend Drop ABSTAIN Biggest Multiplier ABSTAIN Lowest Multiplier ABSTAIN Highest Worldwide total PAST I've decided that while I haven't exactly been swinging for the fences, I was at least trying to double into the gap. After seeing the results of the first couple weeks (#10 or #11 on virtually every one!), I'm going to try to just make good contact and then leg out some infield singles, or possibly lean into a pitch of two.
  2. Ok, I liked Monsters Inc and consider it a really good movie, but its now taken over 2nd place behind Frozen as the movie least deserving of being on this list.
  3. Yeah, same. Well, those 13/14/15 slots are pretty dicey. I'm still hopeful it'll trudge far enough to avoid a penalty. The one I almost swapped Judge out for was Book of Life which probably isn't going to get it done either.
  4. Wow, Addicted tore it up. And it was surprisingly front-loaded. I'm guessing it was *way* more anticipated than I realized (I'm probably not in its target demographic), but I'm also going to guess that it'll both hold poorly and fail to respond very well to significantly increasing its number of screens. Then again, since I'm not in its target demographic, I probably have no idea what I'm talking about.
  5. I'm a little appalled Citizen Kane isnt higher, but given the forum folks and how old the movie is and whatnot I actually get it. But Trainspotting... If you havent seen it, drop what you're doing and go watch it right now. Its smart, its hilarious, its moving, its disgusting and its almost sociopathic at times. It is right up the alley of the folks here and is a great, great movie. Im actually more offended at this being this low than I am over Citizen Kane.
  6. Hmm, don't remember it. We got there a little late, so mid-way through I got up to get popcorn and drinks for everyone. I might have missed it.
  7. I suppose that's true, but personally I'm more appreciative that chasmmi is doing it at all. You know the answers are going to be due Thursday night, so I'd just check for questions Thursday morning and handle it then. My problem tends to be the opposite. As soon as the questions come up, I feel bad for having not answered them. Which is dumb, because you really want to answer them as late as possible so you can incorporate the least inaccurate projections.
  8. Saw Alexander with both Wrathettes and a friend each for them. Theater was 80% full. As an adult, it was perfectly fine, possibly even pleasant.
  9. This is just... Wow. Ugh. On the bright side, if they do a crappy job of it (as they seem to so far), someone could probably come along and start their own. I hope.
  10. Bourne was good, but Terminator was an all-time great. Oh, well. Even if you spend hours working on your list, great movies still somehow slip past you.
  11. If it can stick with 20% declines, GotG projects to almost exactly tie SM3. Gonna be tough to hold to that, though. Its per screen numbers aren't all that special anymore and its probably going to start bleeding screens a little faster.

  13. You're friggin evil. I was pretty confident on SOTM 1 and managed to botch it up badly so I think I'm going to be a little more conservative this time. Path B - 12! No, I'm kidding, I'm kidding. *Path A - 2*
  14. Given the way horror movies go, that wouldn't actually be terrible for Annabelle. But, yeah, if GG brings in 15m on Friday, it should really be 42-45m for the weekend.
  15. Is it just me, or was that scene a huge, out of nowhere tonal shift to the freaky in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang? Its like "Yea for the happy cheerful kids movie... Who then all get kidnapped by scary strangers, are taken away and are never seen again". Like the scene in "Different Strokes" where the kids almost get molested and its partially played for laughs. Its like "WTF just happened?" Back on topic, albeit mean-spiritedly, I'll admit to being rooting slightly against Annabelle since I bet the under in Chasmmi's competition. Viewing the BO numbers in a different light is going to take some getting used to.
  16. Right, but my point is that it mostly took place outside of the US. As opposed to, say, The Town, which takes place entirely in Boston.
  17. DracU was never going to be huge domestically but it could have at least been respectable if it had been marketed properly.
  18. Also, looking at Affleck's prior body of work, Argo did rather poorly overseas (OS was about 2/3 of DOM) despite most of the action taking place in Iran. The Town, which is probably a better comparison to Gone Girl (although it lacked the best-selling book tie-in), also brought in OS only equal to about 2/3 of DOM. Gone Girl isn't really a sequel to anything and Affleck isn't an international star the way, say, Robert Downey Jr has become, so there's no reason to think it will do any better than those previous movies internationally.
  19. Really? Do enough places give Rosh Hashana off to move the meter?
  20. Yeah, I was astonished at how front-loaded Conjuring was. Not so much OW as its actual opening day. It went *down* 18% from Friday to Saturday. Was pretty amazing.
