Derby Week 4 (2016) - The 6th Wave played the Derby
JohnnY replied to AndyLL's topic in Box Office Derby
yeah, congrats, your score was much higher than everyone's btw, Andy, can't you make it available for us to choose other players on the "all your weekly scores" screen so that we can see their rank week by week? edit: nvm, i just realized there's already a way to do that in the standings screen edit2: not sure if it's working properly, though -
I may be talking shit but wouldn't people from big urban areas be more likely to go to the movies and wouldn't tickets be more expensive? I just get the feeling that cities in the east coast have a higher share (just like big cities in the west coast) of participation in the Box Office, and not just something proportional to its population size.

Yeah, they are. Most final games are higher than R$1.000 I'm wondering if I should buy some beach volleyball tickets for the group phase (anything after quarter finals is just too expensive), if I go for the cheapest seat I can pay half price since I'm a student, and that would be only R$25, I won't be seated on the front, but it's still worth it. Apart from that I don't have many options, there are cheap tickets for stuff like badminton and field hockey but I don't really care about these. I would be willing to pay R$300 for gymnastics, but it's already sold out. Anyway, I live only 2 hours from Rio so I'll definitely visit the city, even if I don't attend any sports event. btw things will be very cheap for foreigners since our currency plummeted. $1.000 will equal R$4.000 (or maybe more) and I'm pretty sure that's enough money for a couple to enjoy Rio for a whole month if you don't include hotel prices. Now, hotels in Rio are very expensive, mainly in Copacabana, and I'm sure the prices will skyrocket since they know foreigners will have a lot of money, but if you choose wisely it will be fine, I'm sure it's possibble to find a place for 60 dollars a day. Rio can be a very expensive city, but it can also be very cheap, you don't have to pay to visit the beaches and both Christ the Redeemer (US$16) and the Sugarloaf Mountain (US$18) are kinda cheap. Tourists just need to stay away from Copacabana because everything is overpriced there (the beach is free though) and it's not really worth it.

I'm pretty hyped for the olympics, most tickets are sold out though, I'm not sure if I'll be able to attend any event.

Norm is not gonna hold that well, 0.9 is exactly what I expect from Friday and I don't know how this number will lead to 4.2 if the storm is gonna get worse on Saturday... Unless the storm is actually motivating people to watch a movie about a polar bear lol Anyway, my Derby is kinda doomed. I guess everyone's is, but my RA2 and REV predictions were higher than the average.

Yeah, I know, we have UCI here and right now they have no student promotion on Monday because we're on holidays... Well, most people are on holidays, I'm studying because we need to make up for all the classes we missed when the university was on a strike.
-
Geez, that's expensive. No smaller theater in Manaus that charge less?
-
We're talking about meia-entrada, right? 9 is the cheapest here for 2d movies, but it goes up to 11 in the biggest shopping center.
-
I hope my local theater will still be showing Joy in February. I wanna watch it, but I'm gonna watch Carol on Tuesday and TFA on Wednesday (first time). I can't watch it on Monday because I have an exam and I refuse to go to the movies on the weekend because it's too expensive. If I'm not mistaken, the last time I went to the movies on a weekend was in 2011 in order to see Deathly hallows pt2 on the opening day lol I can watch movies for R$3,00 on Monday, I'm not gonna pay R$9,00 for the weekend ticket.

This movie is very childish, but never in a silly way, it never feels dumbed down. This is a really funny, creative, heartwarming and... british movie. I really liked it. Paddington is so charming, I'm surprised I've never heard about him before, I didn't know this was a popular character.

btw i saw the good dinosaur yesterday and it was awful lol i'm disappointed because i had so much anticipation for this
-
I don't think the movie's hype is only because of the Church. The tv show did get much higer ratings than expected, there is a lot of awereness for this movie, but only from the TV show fans, I guess. it's IURD though lol i really can't sympathize with them and i wouldn't be surprised if they are doing that, theyre probably the richest religious institution in the country

The Peanuts Movie (2015)
JohnnY replied to Plain Old Tele's topic in Review That Movie! (Spoilers Allowed)
I F*CKING LOVED THIS MOVIE -
I'm with the guys who felt this dragged for far too long. This was the longest 90 min long movie i've ever seen, they could have cut lot of stuff out. I felt that they didn't really have much to develop and instead resorted to nostalgia effect, which is meaningless to me since I've never seen a Rocky movie. The final fight was great, though, and it really put me on the edge of my seat. It was fine, after all. 60/10

oh come on, being honest about your past mistakes will not ruin your marriage. Lying to your partner will. Or even worse, lying to cover up another lie. The thing is, he lied because he didn't want to apologize. And when his wife made him apoloize, he hit the guy... and then lied about it. That's pretty evil if you ask me.
-
OK, I'm in the middle of you two I guess lol Maybe not bad guys, fine, but his actions were definitely showed as bad behaviour. It was pretty clear that Simon was behaving like a douche since the scene in which he talks about Gordon's nickname. And after we learn all that he did to Gordon, his mockery becomes even more repulsive. He didn't seem like a bad husband for me, though, as soon as his lies started to pop out, yes, but he wasn't abusive or anything like that, he didn't control her life to that extent.
-
But Simon is a bad guy, that scene did feel a bit out of place, but it showed to his wife that he's still a bully and a liar, because of that he lost his job and his wife lost trust in him. Eventually people find out about your lies and attempts to screw them, and this will all come back to you, i think this message was pretty clear. I don't think this movie was trying to be morally gray, Simon was clearly a douchebag. I'm not saying Gordon was a nice guy, though. There's no nice guy in this movie.
