    Personally, I don't hate the American culture. I just don't like the romanticizing of freedom of speech to the point that it is all good, with no drawbacks especially by politicians and political organisations. At some point, the Chinese will get sick of Transformers. But there is no guarantee that they won't adore something that you absolutely hate. Which I think is healthy. It will be quite a boring world if everyone has the same taste.

    I share the same sentiments. I am really quite bewildered that many glossed over TFA being more like a remake than a sequel. The plot device is so old school (been there done that)... We will see whether Chinese can retain their own movie culture. Singapore is pretty much conquered.

    I wonder if movie studios will start fighting for the this week's opening if Star Wars TFA breaks the record like Titanic and Avatar.

    Ha! It's always intriguing that the American domestic gross includes Canada, yet China's does not even include Hong Kong and Macau in their gross. Taiwan is treated like a country! :O

    Many Chinese watch Transformers cartoon as a kid. There is a Chinese subplot. IO has no fast cars and is too adult.

    I think the real reason is because education is highly valued in Eastern culture. If kids miss school and fare badly in their university entrance exams, many people will blame the government

    I think it won't be a flop. It got some attention because the Little Prince will be voiced by a decently popular boy band member in China, Yi Yangqianxi of TFboys. Not sure if it matters, but the weibo post had over 700m views and 4.5m discussions. I hope it will make at least half of minions.
