  1. Devil is defeated, the nightmare is over 🙏
  2. Pray for the Devil can’t be worse than The Nun. Lionsgate should have put a little more effort promoting it cause horror movies are on a good moment. I didn’t see Smile but people say it’s mediocre at best. It doesn’t seem that hard these days to trick audiences into seeing a bad horror movie. Even Halloween Ends did great for one weekend.
  3. I was unironically enjoying this up until the last 30 minutes or so. By the moment the CGI villain appears, the movie gets real messy in many aspects. Black Adam being locked in the Task Force X underwater prison serves no purpose, Doctor Fate’s death didn’t feel earned, the kid calling the population to fight was lame, and the CGI villain was pure non sense garbage. Since it’s mandatory for comic book movies to have a CGI fest for a finale, I would have just reshot the scene where they go rescue the kid - expand that scene into a third act CGI battle, and no matter how bad it looked, I think the movie would work much better still. Because up until that point I thought it was a perfectly entertaining movie - fun, fast paced, with some really good story bits, and great action.
  4. I'm tired of this division, and I agree with Grace that it only hurts the DCEU. But I don't forget that "the real DC fans" (the ones who don't like Snyder) supported Hamada's plan to make all DC films standalone, which was stupid and didn't work (in terms of box office), and they weren't able to give any DCEU movie a big opening weekend, which makes us question even how many "real DC fans" exist. I don't even need to talk about the response to the return of Snyder's Superman, or how the Snyder Cut was a major improvement over the Joss Whedon version, which "the real DC fans" also doubted would be the case. Way too many times the Snyder fans have been proven right, and in my opinion, it's pretty clear that they're the most significant portion of the DCEU fanbase and it's beyond stupid for WB to alienate them. With that said, I don't agree with the opinion of some of them about James Gunn running DC and I think we should give him a chance. I really liked his Suicide Squad film.
  5. It's definitely an improvement over the guy who wanted Supergirl replacing Superman and a geriatric Batman
  6. I don’t think I ever rooted for a character like I root for Rhaenyra and I know they’re gonna make her suffer, this show will make me so anxious. What have I got myself into 😭
  7. Black Adam would have smashed with an opening over $100m if there was an actual plan for the DCEU, if the movie had been teased in another previous big DCEU movie, and Black Adam was facing against already established heroes (or the Suicide Squad), instead of this Justice Society that audiences are unfamiliar with. Hopefully the new management of DC understands the potential this shared universe has wasted in the past 5 years or so by making standalone movies that lead no nowhere. Make a plan and stick with it no matter what. For what the movie is, a $67m opening is great
  8. Hard to see audiences being as excited for yet another reboot that ignores all the sequels and picks up from the original. Also don't think Jamie Lee Curtis would return. And audiences also don't seem receptive to remakes these days. It will be tricky to continue the Halloween franchise in the near future. But even the lowest opening of the trilogy ($40m) is still massive for a horror film, hard to see the industry not wanting to continue milking the franchise.
  9. I agree, WB the production studio really needed a change of leadership. They ruined or nearly ruined their most valuable franchises or the potential ones, if you think about it. Stephen King adaptations after IT, Lego Movie, Harry Potter, DC, Matrix, all of them were quickly burned to the ground in the past 4 or 5 years for creative reasons alone. Some executives didn't want to make Joker. They were against the very single decision that saved Black Adam from bombing this weekend. I'm not a fan of David Zaslav, but the shake up in the WB leadership was really needed (I'm talking about WB the studio, because I was actually a fan of Jason Kilar running WarnerMedia ).
  10. I hate Twitter’s obsession with Rotten Tomatoes. The movie didn’t even open in the U.S. yet and they’re already treating it as a failure. Of course, reviews are relevant, and can potentially hurt a movie’s box office, but a lot of people just look at the RT score as the measure for success, and it makes no sense. These movies are made to sell tickets (and streaming subscriptions).
  11. The funny thing about the DCEU is that, if you look at the historic correlation between RT score and box office for the franchise, the chances of Black Adam being a global hit with over $600 million worldwide have just increased.
  12. Walter Hamada was so out of touch with what the DC fans wanted. Everyone loves Henry Cavill and wanted him back. Some members the other day were asking if Zaslav taking over Warner had produced any good news, well there it is. We only have Cavill's Superman back because of the merger of WB and Discovery and Zaslav cleaning house.
  13. And he has already done a better job than Geoff Johns, Jon Berg and Walter Hamada with that alleged return alone.
  14. I wonder if this will improve on rewatch, because the first time I was in shock at what the movie was. But watching it already knowing what it is may be quite enjoyable. The movie, after all, it's pretty well made for what it is. Last time I was this shocked at a movie in the theater was with the 2016 Suicide Squad, I couldn't believe what I was seeing.
  15. This wasn't at the same level of some great fantasy shows we have these days like House of the Dragon, the underrated His Dark Materials, and even Stranger Things at times. But it's also not any worse than those DC, Marvel, Star Wars and Star Trek shows, which all have the writing quality of broadcast network TV. I understand expectations for Rings of Power were high, given the budget and the source material, but let's not pretend this isn't on par with a lot of highly successful geek content out there.
