  1. Ouch. Not very good for Hardcore Henry, worse than expected even. At least for me, it was. Oh well, hardly was this ever going to click w/audiences. It'll probably turn out profitable, if just out of an international release, but The Gift or The Boy this certainly won't be for STX.
  2. I didn't say FAILURE - I hate it when people put words in my mouth -, I said disappointment. And I'll tell you exactly why it's a disappointment: because IRON MAN 3 made those numbers 3 years ago. Freaking divisive ass Iron Man 3. This movie has Winter Soldier's goodwill in it, it has Iron Man and SPIDER-MAN in it (as well as a few other anticipation worthy characters), and it's opening the Summer movie season. Plus, it's getting good reactions to boot. To me, that's the bar it has to beat at least.
  3. Civil War not getting 400M DOM and 1.2 B WW would indeed be a disappointment, but hardly the type of disappointment that BVS (which will barely clear or won't even make it to 1B WW) is. BVS is definitely not a flop, that's almost comparable to the ones calling AOU a flop last year - close to 800M WW in 3 weeks is hardly floppage. But, compared to what WB was pushing for, it's surely not the success they were hoping. Plus, hardly would Civil War not get good numbers considering that the initial reaction from critics is actually fairly good, which bodes well for the film's WOM and, therefore, its legs.
  4. Well, last week we were all laughing at how dysmal Allegiant's 69% drop was.... I'm not sure if, as of this weekend, we have much reason to laugh as much as we have reason to cringe, and in the case of fanboys, maybe cry even. Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice. I'm pretty sure that, by now, y'all saw my epic post on what 2016 has been so far (if you haven't, it's in page 83 of this thread). Do I need to say more than that? Uncertain if it's more sad that this had a 2nd weekend drop on par w/Allegiant's, or w/X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Sure, WB can gloat about how it's at 260M+ and nearly 700M WW, but is that really the type of performance that they aspired the movie would have had its WOM not been so toxic? I think the movie can carry itself to GOTG numbers if its lucky at this point. Yup, Batman V Superman doing LESS than Deadpool. Say what you will about Furious 7 being a OS juggernaut, American Sniper being the #1 film of 2014 or Jurassic World's performance - this is a surprise that's very much every bit up there w/those. And while 900M WW is still open, I thought for the longest time that 1B was a given. Now, it's a stretch. How far have we come as a world. Not like the debutants took much in their gain, anyway. God's Not Dead 2 debuting under the original despite having nearly 2000x as many theaters (so much for new phenomenom incoming... I guess Christians are too busy right now w/Miracles), and Meet The Blacks... did anybody even notice its debut? Everybody Wants Some also w/a lukewarm at best debut in limited, although more understandable due to the unknown cast, but still. Luckily, if you're a fan of good movies, this was a week to be happy about. Deadpool, 10 Cloverfield Lane, fucking Star Wars: The Force Awakens in its 16th weekend, and especially Zootopia all had extremely impressive drops. Zootopia's just shy of 20%. Absurd. Just absurd. It's the type of performance I anticipated Kung Fu Panda 3 to have, I'm not gonna lie. What a crazy run, and assuming Japan also overperforms, 1B may very much be in the locks. Batman V Superman will NOT be the 1st 2016 1B movie, Zootopia will. Not a single person imagined that was coming a year ago. DP and 10CL also showing off those Morena and Mary Liz legs like only they can, now heading for 360 and 70 respectively. For the type of movies that they are, that's just amazing, and TFA's 11% drop also very pleasing. Allegiant also holding on for dear life, falling under 50%, and Miracles From Heaven too w/a very nice drop itself. Doris also continuing its rising run, and Eye In The Sky w/a big time expansion also kicking some serious ass. Midnight Special, once again, not so good.
  5. Cloverfield's sexy thighs carrying it to almost 70M DOM, and soon, 80M WW. Niiiice. Only thing sweeter than that is it it not only crosses 100M WW, but 80M DOM, which would have it on par w/the first movie. Can that happen, Paramount? Please? Go Spectre on it, if necessary.
  6. I'm glad that every single one of you appreciated my rundown of this year of surprises. My brilliance is quite simply unmatched. Btw, when I first saw that Morena pic, I'm not sure which was happier: my soul, or my dick.
  7. So, if Japan's performance is also above expectations... 1 billion dollars WW? That just sounds surreal. Just last year I thought Zootopia was gonna be lame and the Disney 3D Renaissance's first critical and commercial bomb. How motherfucking wrong I was.
  8. If Zootopia's hold maintains as DHD predicted.... Judy Hopps really should do a casting to be the new Energizer bunny, since her movie just keeps on going and going. Infuckingcredible. Will probably overtake Deadpool as the #1 film WW either today or in the next few days. Are we talking 900M WW now?
  9. Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Or are se about to live in a world where a Batman V Superman V Wonder Woman V Doomsday V Aquaman V Cyborg V Flash V Zuckerberg V Martha V Clusterfuck movie couldn't outperform an R-rated 60M budgeted Deadpool DOM. Hater or fanboy, this is the one thing we all can agree on: NOBODY saw this coming even in January this year. This is actually crazier than Jurassic World outperforming AOU last year.
  10. Pretty sure George must've been hiding in that basement so that he could train singing Haddaway's "What Is Love, Baby Don't Hurt Me" to that girl whenever they met again. Or maybe that Celine Dion Titanic song.
  11. Yeah, I did think the third act of that movie was unbearably heavy-handed and annoying, not to mention extremely creepy and uncomfortable (seriously, was Clooney actually having sexual tension w/the robot girl?), but like I said, that doesn't derail the fact that the movie still has merits - CGI was good, Clooney and Britt were good, the little girl was an ass kicker... I thought it wasn't bad. And again - MI: Ghost Protocol, and his animations (Incredibles, Iron Giant, Ratatouille) prove that he's talented, he's a good director and I think he should get a shot a redemption. So many other directors have done misfires in the past. Even our God Mr. David Fincher directed Alien 3.
  12. You don't like him? I know Tomorrowland wasn't perfect (I still enjoyed it), but I thought everything else he's done was great.
  13. How about more of this? Spider-Man 3 wasn't good essentially, not entirely but at least partly, because of Raimi and the studio's fight over Venom, who Raimi didn't want in the film but Sony forced him to shoehorn it in anyway. He's still the guy that directed the 1st two movies - Spider-Man 2 being a top 10 CBM ever btw, and he's still the guy that directed the Evil Dead trilogy. He's a renouned CB geek too. He's Sam fucking Raimi, and if he were to direct JLA, I'd be pumped the shit up.
  14. Solid recap of what 2016 has been so far Zootopia's legs: 10 Cloverfield Lane's legs: Deadpool's legs: The Revenant's legs: Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice's legs:
  15. The movie grossed 940M WW and it still lost money? And YIKES to that Friday number. 50M weekend may be in jeopardy here, which would be kinda disastrous.
  16. Well, if that's what you feel, I won't judge you. I'm not overly interested in combat sports myself - I like boxing and some of the martial arts, but MMA I always found pretty boring. Many of my friends told me to get into UFC and I couldn't do it. But I get why it's so beloved and all.
