  1. https://io9.gizmodo.com/zoe-saldana-has-already-finished-filming-avatar-2-and-3-1826779611 This film is never coming out! 🤣
  2. Jim got the Terminator rights back and is making a direct sequel to T2.
  3. On the one hand I think Disney owner would give Avatar 2 better chances but if Comcast were to take control I wouldn't have to see the day where people credit Avatar to Disney's brilliance (that would be disgusting)
  4. Why are we acting like the definition of an animation isn't super vague, this needs to be discussed for making the lists. I think because Avatar being the example used it's driven people up the wall, my advice is to take a step back and think for a second. There is no clear line which separates a non-animated film to an animated film so the distinction has to be made.
  5. Jim's batman would be unreal, let's stick to number of batman movies made as the metric.
  6. I posted the Academy thing and it said 75% of the film most contain animation, not that 75% of the film is completely animated. That definition the Academy uses includes scenes like Quaritch in his AMP suit within Hell's gate.
  7. Turns out I seen around 150 animated features so I decided to only do a top 75 because otherwise I'm just listing films I've seen. In order. 1. 8. he consistently makes a fool of anti-pandoran Rukaio which I love him for LIST INBOUND 15 MINS
  9. The /r/movies subreddit is the worst when reading about box office and Avatar. If anyone in here is a masochist enjoys self hurt take a look in this thread I'll post some of the best bits here so sorry in advance. Flamma_Man 2.3k points·17 hours ago·edited 15 hours ago Honestly, even if it was a day behind Avatar, this run to two billion was far more impressive, like you said, for being a Summer release. Not to mention having SOME competition to bite at its legs like Deadpool 2 and Solo: A Star Wars Story. RazielKainly 168 points·15 hours ago Avatar was a novelty. It was the first well done mostly cg movie with immersive 3D. Take out the visual prowess and it was a barebone plot with subpar acting 3D is now a fad and most people have been used to all the crazy cg since then. Expect Avatar 2 to not top $1.5 B allusernamestakenfuk 58 points·17 hours ago I hope it surpasses that overrated crap of Avatar BeeCJohnson 75 points·16 hours ago It blows my mind that Avatar is still at the top. I haven't heard anyone mention the word "Avatar" outside of box office discussions in like a decade. Nobody cares about that movie. How is it still at the top? It had zero cultural impact.
  10. congrats on joining the 2 billie club, only the toughest can progress from here Titanic and Avatar stick out like sore thumbs, not only are they at the top but they're of high quality and pushed boundaries what is capable in cinema. See you at the midnight release KJ
  11. Lol I broke BOT.. I'm not touching that post it's scary. An animated feature film has a running time of more than 40 minutes. In an animated film, animation must figure in no less than 75% of the pictures running time. By this definition Avatar is an animated feature film. Pretty much every live action scene in the film has green screen which get's animated cgi transposed.
  12. we can go deeper then, what does hollywood say animations are here's the complete rules for the oscars http://www.oscars.org/sites/oscars/files/91aa_rules.pdf RULE SEVEN SPECIAL RULES FOR THE ANIMATED FEATURE FILM AWARD I. DE 1. DEFINITION An animated film is defined as a motion picture in which movement and characters’ performances are created using a frame-by-frame technique, and usually falls into one of the two general fields of animation: narrative or abstract. Some of the techniques of animating films include but are not limited t hand-drawn animation, computer animation, stop-motion, clay animation, pixilation, cutout animation, pinscreen, camera multiple pass imagery, kaleidoscopic effects created frame-by-frame, and drawing on the film frame itself. Motion capture and real - time puppetry are not by themselves animation techniques. An animated short film has a running time of 40 minutes or less. An animated feature film has a running time of more than 40 minutes. In an animated film, animation must figure in no less than 75 percent of the picture's running time. In addition, a narrative animated film must have a significant number of the major characters animated. If the picture is created in a cinematic style that could be mistaken for live action, the filmmaker(s) must also submit information supporting how and why the picture is substantially a work of animation rather than live action
  13. The line is really tuff actually, if you look at Spongebob movie it has some live actions scenes with the HOFF, why is Spongebob movie and animation and not Avatar? I don't really understand the line myself but based off feel Avatar isn't an animation. Maybe it's whether or not it's shot with a camera? but then stop-motion doesn't count.. confusing
  14. Just sticking out for his good friend Arnold. While True Lies is my #7 and last place it's still a great movie.
  15. The real ones don't at all (I only post reals). Do you understand what deluded means? This man has made the two highest grossing films of all time and travelled to the deepest point in the ocean in a submarine project managed. You're the deluded one.
  16. This is extremely likely with A3 coming out just 1 year after A2, as long as Avatar survives we're good I was going to link you where Jim talks about an Avatar re-release with improved CGI but I can't find it for the life in me, I'm still searching but I can't remember anything about the article.
  17. If Infinity War Part 2 makes more than Avatar then A2 is making atleast $4b and Avatar will get re-released and make a quick 300m+ and reclaim second
  18. bitchin' screenplay, perfect execution and groundbreaking tech... a big spectacle film grounded by heart. I'm not serious when I say 4 billies is the floor however my prediction as of now is $3.5b+
  19. 5 billies??? I lost the links but the top 10 highest grossing films of all time lists in 1998 and 2010 are hilarious, the gap is monumental.
  20. It had a huge international rake because US dollar was at a low during it's run(it was after the housing bubble). 1) Still 30 months until Avatar 2 so the dollar strength for A2 is unknown. 2) Inflation alone counteracts the current change in XR 3) Overseas Market growth in the East and South America has been huge since 2019, for perspective IW has beaten Avatar in 15 markets despite the less favourable exchange rates and performing worse compared to current market size. 4) China first movie had the 3d novelty There are now 20x as many 3D screens in the world and Jim wants Avatar 2 playing on all of them. We haven't seen any films made for 3D in a while now, last that comes to mind is gravity. The blurry and crappy post processed 3D mixed with the DARK screens due to glasses and cinemas being greedy (reducing lumens on bulb to save money) the quality of 3D has been awful. Speaking personally I went to see IW and RP1 in 3D and both were dark and blurry, I won't be seeing 3D again until Alita but I'm going to have to find a decent cinema to watch it in. Point is 3D still is the way forward but we aren't seeing it in it's peak. Jim has made it his mission to revolutionise 3D and is looking to raise the bar once again. Ask yourself this, which would be more impressive to create the 3D craze out of nothing or to revitalise the current . Jim is a human god I'm sorry to say that he isn't mortal, I trust in him absolutely because he's the most reliable man on earth. Always delivers. 4 billies is the FLOOR
  21. So what's the damage looking like with SOLO? $210m DOM $160m INT $370m WW Estimated loss $200m
  22. this, more like action but ye This is wrong! Jim says he wasn't trying to imitate the first movie because it would likely be worse than the masterpiece that is Alien, instead he makes an action horror.
