  1. Watch out for a Netflix film that’s premiering at Telluride today. It’s The Wonder by Sebastián Lelio, who directed Gloria, Disobedience, A Fantastic Woman, and Gloria Bell. It’s a small-scale period piece but it’s in a position where if it’s any good it can become a bigger push for Netflix. Florence Pugh’s in the lead role. Also with Netflix is The Swimmers, an inspiring refugee film opening Toronto that has lots of pundits hope-dicting it. If things get really dicey for Netflix they can always just push Pinocchio really hard, hopefully make it the first animated Best Picture nominee since Toy Story 3, idk Netflix I’m just spitballing, your move 🤷‍♂️
  2. Two notes about this category. - "I Ain't Worried" (Top Gun: Maverick) may be ineligible. I think the Academy made it so that songs with samples in it are ineligible. If "I Ain't Worried" is ineligible then that'll likely boost the chances "Hold My Hand" has at getting nominated. - "Vegas" and other songs from Elvis will also be affected by ineligibility of songs with samples. In fact, if anything from the Elvis soundtrack doesn't have samples and it actually shows up on a submission list for Original Song, I'd keep an eye on it. Elvis is one of the biggest hits of the year and a song's attachment to the film could boost it.
  3. Fathom Events is about to release Lifemark in select theaters on September 9th. This is the next film from the Fireproof people. It’s different from their typical weekday events because it appears they’re debuting the film on the Friday and screening it for at least one full week. Keep an eye on it because it *might* do pretty well.
  4. I wonder if the John Boyega movie Breaking will be able to crack $1M total this weekend...
  5. Survivor Pandora: Breaking News - The amount of applications has reached 10 players, which is great! But please keep sending those applications in! - If the application total comes short of 18, I think that the minimum amount of players I can design this Survivor season around would be 15 players. Conversely, there's also a maximum amount of players the season could handle, which would be between 18 and 22. So if the amount of applications is between is no more than 22, I'll just include every applicant. But be advised that the more players I have in the game, the more crazy multi elimination twists will be featured in the season. The reason is because the game's first round is the Avatar re-release weekend and its last round is the Avatar 2 weekend, yielding thirteen weeks of Survivor gameplay. - I'm toying with the idea of extending the application deadline one week to September 12th instead of September 5th. But if you're interested in playing this season, please make your application as soon as possible anyways!
  6. Yeah; the fact that it’s getting decent “no August competition” type weekend holds and that it’s grossing past $10M total is already a win imo.
  7. In my opinion, definitely. There’s so many people showing up to the theater where I work, and they have their whole crew wearing Dragon Ball merchandise. Everyone knows Goku; some might not be seeing this film because they haven’t seen Dragon Ball Super things, but if general audiences were given a chance to go see an entry-point live-action film, then it would definitely be a smash hit!
  8. That’s kind of open to personal interpretation, but I also joined in 2015 and I would answer “long time.”
  9. Hi! So you would only have to predict on Tuesday if you’re going to Tribal Council; that’s if your team loses a challenge. Sometimes you’ll predict Tuesday grosses, and other times you’ll predict Tuesday Per Theater Averages (PTA); I might mix and match!
  10. It's been about a week since applications have been open, but only four players have applied so far! If your interested in playing Survivor, please fill out the form! Again, you'll just be predicting box office, so the gameplay shouldn't be too intensive! https://forms.gle/HJpCNKM7yNCJNLBY8 Time for another tag fest! @Cap @ZeeSoh @Flip @The Dark Alfred @Torontofan @John Rambo @TheDarkKnightOfSteel @MCKillswitch123 @M37 @Viper @LonePirate @abra @MrFanaticGuy34 @WayneBorg @chasmmi @Factcheck @Issac Newton @Alexdube @Psylocke @RexTheMan14 @Lion Roar @ViktorLosAngeles @AJG @Cappoedameron @lor15 @nerves @reddevil19 @Abhinav v @Orestes @John Marston @Purple Minion @Blipsy @MrPink @B J @nelmsey @catlover @Boxofficerules @belblazer @AN9815 @Brainbug @MrPink @lorddemaxus @romeross @RobrtmanAStarWarsReference @Sandro Mazzola @BoxOfficeFangrl @PhilipJ2001 @kayumanggi @Xavier @abracadabra1998 @Elessar @3jp @Moses
  11. @CayomMagazine There's some release date shake-ups going on over at Studio Groundswell: - Klonoa: Door to Phantomile has its release date moving up from September to April. "We saw that Luigi's Mansion was moving on into September, and we were like yikes," said a spokesperson. "We were initially a little concerned about Pac-Man's March position and Klonoa's April position butting heads since they're two Namco adaptations, but we've realized, hey, they'll probably feed into each other, and they're different enough as a live-action versus an animation." - Onimusha has been taken off the release schedule until further notice. "We're not sure if we're moving forward with it yet," said a spokesperson. - Conversely, Thunderhead, the Scythe sequel, is moving ahead for an August bow despite the middling reviews of the predecessor. - The Needles of Haystack County will release on July 3rd, Independence Day weekend! "While that's admittedly close to Scavenger Wars IV," said a spokesperson, "we see it as an opportunity cuz one film's a sci-fi and the other's a western, so it's like the 60s and 70s all over again, you know? It's a battle of cowboys and astronauts, of lasers and lassos. And no doubt you'll have plenty of folks wanting a look at both setting, both the Great Plains and Great Beyond. It'll make for an exciting balance this Summer!"
  12. Okay, I think I’m going with GREEN LANTERN CORPS: EVOLUTION and then I’ll also go with BARRACUDA
  13. Heyo! This is actually the recruiting thread for an older season. For the new season, only two people have signed up to play so far, so there's still plenty of spots! If you're still interested, please fill out the form below and you may be able to play this season! https://forms.gle/bMvAtKWihWBhg1ej7
