  1. Exactly. This notion that you are "weak" minded because you look at reviews is ridiculous. If a family has 2 kids and wanted to go see this movie, that's $100. They'd look at reviews of both critics and viewers to make their decision. I know a lot of families who do this. They end up watching the film when it comes out on DVD. There's nothing wrong with that.
  2. Yes but Word of Mouth can be negative too and have the opposite affect of what you're saying. No one knows what the word of mouth for this movie is going to be until it actually comes out.
  3. So I just talked to my friend who is a manager for a theater in the area I live and the company told them to add some more show times for Thursday night previews and Friday OD but to hold off on Saturday and Sunday until they see how the audience likes it. Which is dumb because this exactly what they did with Deadpool and the theater got overwhelmed Saturday/Sunday. So is this like a common practice or something? I mean I could see it being done for a movie like Deadpool but this is BvS.
  4. Thanks. Wonder Woman and Batman were my favs from this film so I look forward to their stand alone films. I think WW can be successful too even if BvS isn't well-liked because at my showing the audience loved her.
  5. Tell that to Green Lantern it was getting crucified to the tune of a 26% on RT. Look how well that turned out.
  6. Opening Day: 70M Saturday: 45M Sunday: 35M Total: 150M *Since everyone is going high, I thought why not go on the low end...we live in a world where a movie opening at $150M is the "low" end.
  7. I saw that. Weird cause a few days ago it was $175M+. I think variety said $175M+. It'll be interesting to see which direction the tracking goes as the movie date hits.
  8. I'm still shocked at the legs that Deadpool has. I know BvS will all but kill it's legs but it'll be nice to see it cross $355M domestically.
  9. Well I mean it is a Superman sequel and although Batman is dark, Superman isn't dark and in both cases they have limits. Also you have to realize that for a lot of people it's not that it's too dark, it's the execution of the tone. As in they had no idea what to do with it. Whereas TDK was dark and was loved by critics because they actually executed the tone. Anyways I read on Business Insider that a box insider brought down his OW from $180M to $163M.
  10. All the guys at Collider and IGN plus Chris Stuckmann...I can dig in the Batman v Supernan RT watch thread for you if you want more names but you're going to have to give me sometime to collect the rest of the names.
  11. Have you watched the guys from Collider, IGN etc review it? It wasn't praised and was given a C in a lot of cases. The only positive reaction it got was from people who were at the premiere which happens with every movie. There is no fitting of the narrative but it just seems that some people can't handle the fact that the initial batch of reactions from people who should love the movie have been mixed/meh.
  12. When fanboys who yes are also "critics" are giving it mixed reviews then yes we can sit and question it. I'm still going to go watch with an open mind obviously but it's not just the critics and it's something to think about when giving OW predictions.
  13. Does anyone know if any new tracking as come out? Usually they update it daily. I tried looking on Twitter but all I saw were reviews or articles from three days ago.
  14. When it comes to Super Hero and comic book movies critics and the general audience are typically on the same page. Maybe slightly differing opinions but it's never been polar opposites. When was the last time a comic book movie had 40% on RT and a 46 meta score and was loved by the general audience? And it's not just critics...even fan boys have been mixed with the film and they're supposed to love it. Let's stop kidding ourselves when the writing is on the wall.
  15. Oh boy. If it's starting in the mid-80s and it hasn't even been out, things will only get worse. It's all down hill from here folks.
  16. Opening Day will be fine. So will the previews. It's Saturday and Sunday that people are going to be looking at.
  17. If WOM is as bad as the reviews are I have it at $150M and wouldn't hesitate going even lower. And it's not that the reviews are bad, it's the they've spent three years hyping this movie up so people are going with extremely high expectations that need to be met and if they're not met you can guarantee bad WOM will spread. And looking at the amount of show times in the theaters around me, it doesn't look like the theaters are adding any show times for The weekend.
  18. No. BvS comes out this weekend and will pretty much end it's run BUT it can beat AS and it will beat Matrix Reloaded for highest R-rated gross all time (DOM+INT) all without China and no 3D. A big win either way.
  19. Posting in here again to say I've read the script. Now I understand why the script was on the blacklist...not spoiling anything obviously but if the teaser trailer is what the movie will be like visually, in combination with the script, this movie is going to be a sleeper hit.
  20. I know what ifs don't matter but it's crazy to think that if this movie opened up in China, it would have most likely crossed $900M WW. Still it's run is amazing. I think $780M sounds about right to me.
  21. Could you imagine...Deadpool arrives to save his wife. No one would expect that. Too bad this movie is being made by Sony. Maybe Deadpool will give Spider-Man a call and Spidey can save her.
  22. Allegiant will be extremely front loaded so it's going to decrease throughout the weekend where as Zootopia has shown increases every weekend it's been out aka it's not front loaded.
