  1. Man the reactions I’ve read from folks here and a few people I follow online have me so excited for this. I’m such a huge Gunn fan from the guardians movies, TSS and Peacemaker may be tied with the first guardians for his best comic book stuff for me. This also has me so excited for his Superman movie.

Good reception is what’s needed most right now for the mcu and comic book movies in general. I’m not interested in spiderverse but I’m sure that’s gonna be great as well which is good and if flash can get good reception as well that will only mean good things for all the companies making these movies going forward.

Yeah, Ezra's obviously going to be out but I have my doubts that this movie will introduce the new Flash.

Ya I was just kidding, I expect a few fun after credit scenes that’s about it. I doubt they attach anything of substance to this movie for the new projects.

Yeah, that was one of my concerns that critics might give this movie a bad review because of the Ezra situation. That doesn't seem to be happening so far but I wouldn't be surprised to see some of it surface when the review embargo is lifted.

It will definitely happen though people will try and be subtle as possible about it.

    Also, just saw this on twitter;

Probably didn’t show the after credit scenes cause they have a new flash already for that lol.

Yeah, it's a tough call. We saw more mixed reactions to Flash, but we also saw more hyperbolic ones like "One of the best CBMs ever" "One of DC's best". The only franchise-wide superlatives I saw for GotG3 was "Best since Endgame" or "Best since NWH". I could see the scores be close to each other, but a wider array of both euphoric and disparaging/neutral reviews for The Flash, instead of Guardians where many like it but few love it.

I think gotg 3 will be a lot darker then the flash will be so I think they may help the flash more with some easier passing scores to fresh. But not sure how much the Ezra situation will pull reviews the other way. We’ll see what happens, I’m not really overly concerned tbh.

Yes, but not all nostalgia is equal.

Outside the usual CBM fan suspects, Flash is not getting nearly the interest that Spidey:NWH got.

Not sure what your point is? No one ever expected the flash to have the same interest as NWH, that’s like a top 10 grossing movie of all time.

The flash trailer dominated talk when it released at the Super Bowl, the last trailer has done very well online and screening reactions were good, so I’d say so far so good with the path they’ve taken to market the movie.

Also my initial comment wasn’t really directed at anything specific, it’s just that nostalgia bait has always been a thing so who cares really? If you don’t want to see the movie then don’t see it.

There’s… something going on in this thread lol.

After Quantumania and Shazam, and the way GOTG3 is tracking, It would be surprising if The Flash ends up the only superhero hit of 2023 though. Didn’t have that in my predictions lol.

Ignore feature is a beautiful thing.

or because they sunk 300m into this they have to do whatever they can to try create any kind of hype to hopefully recoup that

Or you have no idea what they spent on the movie like the rest of us and they’re just confident in the movie which is why they screened it 2 months early. It’s obvious what they’re doing, I guarantee you Aquaman 2 cost as much as flash if not more and it won’t be screened months in advance.

Interesting to note that the Deadline article also cites a $200m budget for The Flash. I'm sure it's north of that, but maybe not quite $300m?

People like to exaggerate things, we have no idea what the budget is and probably will never know the exact amount. People are using any and every excuse to make it seem like this movie is so important cause it “costs” so much. It’s obvious the reason WB is doing what they’re doing for this movie is cause they truly think they have something special. We’ll see if people agree with them in June.

  9. I’d be pretty surprised if this didn’t get 80 on RT. If this is a movie that lands in the 60-70 range then they definitely shouldn’t have shown it last night. I’m not seeing 60-70 from the reactions but we’ll see what happens when reviews come out.

Why he´s always so mad lol

He was pissedabout people predicting EEAAO would sweep the awards, then he was completely freaking out about the actual victories

And now he´s on a whole new level being pissed about other people liking something he dislike

No wonder this dude can’t keep a job at any site. Everyone hates him probably.

  11. This is basically the reactions I was expecting. Some hyperbolic, mostly good, some surprising, a few negatives. I expect this to be on the higher end of quality for DC movies since MOS. Probably 80-85 on RT. Audiences will probably really like it but I have no idea about the box office tbh.

  12. Good trailer again.

I’d be pretty shocked if this doesn’t get good reactions tonight, I’m definitely not expecting best cbm ever reactions but if this doesn’t get very good reactions this was a huge miscalculation from WB and Gunn will look bad as well.

The only thing that makes me pause is how certain “industry” people may react to this cause of their personal feelings towards Ezra. I would hope people who are professionals could still do their jobs but even seeing comments in this thread about Ezra makes me think some people may not be able to look past some of their issues irl. Not my place to judge just saying.

But that doesn´t mean that´s the only reason the movie was successful. A movie doesn´t get to 1,1B just from that.

In the case of captain marvel the release schedule of the movie is the reason the  movie made what it made. It’s not touching 1.1b if it isn’t released between IW and EG and she isn’t teased in there. Doesn’t mean the movie is bad or you shouldn’t enjoy it or that this movie can’t make money though.
