  1. And oh yeah if I expressed some hope for Annihilation before it's pretty much down to zero now. It's sounding more and more like what if they had just released Under the Skin wide. There'll surely be strong admirers but that's not gonna cut it I'm afraid.
  2. These two not gonna shut up until their dying breath that's for sure.
  3. Maybe just move on straight to Before Death. Can definitely collect a bunch of Oscars with that, too.
  4. Maybe if they cook up a fourth Before movie for 2022 and it's up to the standards of its predecessors it can finally break through beyond screenplay. But anyway it's not like he cares, or should care really.
  5. yeah that's... a bit much I think? you got some unresolved issues with young irresponsible single mothers?
  6. Only Angels Have Wings. Cuz cool and stoic Cary Grant is (even) better than manic and mugging Cary Grant.
  7. Amazon had such a phenomenal 2016 and now what. Guess they figured they can't just keep throwing money at Wonderstrucks of the world after all. At least we can thank them for ending Terry Gilliam's Don Quixote nightmare.
  8. Nothing as big and undeniable I suppose, but I'm more interested in Hereditary than I ever was in Big Sick and Mudbound, and Madeline's Madeline got some really passionate raves as an Upstream Color-esque esoteric experimental thing. But bring on more heavy-hitters for sure.
  9. They didn't even make it, they just bought it out of Sundance.
  10. Waiting to see if I can catch up with The Shape of Water in the next three days, even though my hopes aren't high. The only big one left.
  11. It's a damn shame how Rosamund Pike's career is in pretty much the same place it was pre-Gone Girl.
  12. Alex Garland won't even get asked by Marvel to direct Ant-Man 8 anytime soon, what a fucking failure
  13. Do you rebuke the spirit of drugs in the name of Jesus?
  14. It seems like a movie driven more by directing than writing anyway. Maybe if supporting actress is weak and JJL or Gina Rodriguez gets a strong push...
  15. The better question is should we already be resigned to Annihilation not getting recognized? The reviews are absolutely there (not even divided like mother!'s were), and it sounds like the kind of movie that would benefit from being released early and sticking in people's minds. But it's likely to bomb in the box office and Paramount in general doesn't seem to give a shit about it, at least now. I'm guessing the Zodiac fate is much more likely than that of Get Out or Grand Budapest or Mad Max.
