  1. Also it won't hold well because nothing ever does on this weekend.
  2. What's jaw-dropping is how oblivious even supposedly intelligent people could be to the movie's satire when it came out. Today if anything it seems too obvious.
  3. Well clearly the earlier release date doesn't really matter as much as everyone thinks and Logan was always more acclaimed and more appealing to critics than WW.
  4. Why? Yeah it's strange. There were Vicky Krieps, Brooklynn Prince, Dafne Keen, Florence Pugh all in the movies they loved.
  5. I feel like we're starting to get a definite correlation between a poster's stance on ketchup on pizza and the quality of their movie opinions
  6. CMBYN apart from featuring gay characters is not like Moonlight in any way shape or form. Not a message movie either unless you wanna get indignant at a movie being cool with gay people. If you're gonna rail against it as a possible winner then you should also rail against Get Out cause both it and Moonlight are about black people.
  7. We're supposed to be fucking professionals Pink
  8. Obviously it did by several people. We never really decided what year to assign it, although looking at its American release date when it was already released to the paying public in Italy in 1997 is even more arbitrary than it would have been if it were strictly a festival play in '97. Princess Mononoke wasn't released in the US until 1999 and it's either coming up in the top 10 or it's just outside the top 25, if it's the latter it obviously suffered too.
  9. Life Is Beautiful is 100% the casualty of some people considering it a 1997 movie and others a 1998 one. No way it'd be that low otherwise.

  12. Shape of Water's reception (critically) is not any worse than Lady Bird's (it's gonna make more money too) and both Hawkins and Robbie have more physically challenging and showy roles. If Streep seriously brings the goods in The Post I can see Ronan being #5.
  13. I don't believe Ronan is above either Hawkins or Robbie.
  14. The key to Con Air is that it takes itself just seriously enough to make you invested in Cage's survival but not seriously enough to pretend that it's anything more than an absurd action romp. And it is an awesome absurd action romp. Not as inspired as Face/Off, but then there's only one John Woo out there.
  15. Con Air has Nic Cage playing Forrest Gump with a mullet and oily abs, saying things like "Put the bunny back in the box" with maximum intimidation, not to mention hardass convicts dancing to "Sweet Home Alabama" and cheering as a cross-dressing drug dealer camps it up in front of them, and it's not weird enough for you?
