  1. Bruh, I'm rooting for it. I hope you're right. Well, first I'm rooting for it to be GOOD. Then I hope it cleans up at the BO. But I don't see the YT views translating to big box office success. Not on that level. I think there's hype but it's not coming directly from the GA. The huge hype is still coming from the comic book fan section of the universe who are very vocal and do make an impact but not on the level of Jurassic World and these types of things. I do think some families will stay away. Now, some guy is going to say "Well, what about Deadpool?". I don't think this has had as great of a marketing campaign as Deadpool had and I don't think the same audience is losing their minds over SS. I think they are waiting for reviews and WOM.
  2. Guys, come on. SS is going to do somewhere between $75M-$85M OW which should be considered a success for this new property.
  3. I can appreciate the buzz for TFA and the opening night experience I had, but the JJ Abrams is god talk stopped when he put out a note by note remake of Episode IV and I'll never understand someone who debates that point.
  4. AOU and Mayweather or Dory and NBA? Families and comic fans sure love them some Money Mayweather but NBA might be the ultimate family product.
  5. Excellent number but I have this feeling like this could be The Force Awakens all over again. I loved the experience and to be there opening night in a packed theater with people dressed up and going nuts. But then I watched it again and it hit me... "That's all?" Yes, I feel like it won't live up to that 94% RT. Still going to check it out, I'm just not hyped for it.
  6. There are in-jokes and call backs between each of the characters in the Fast series that are hilarious if you've seen all of the movies and the characters have grown and adapted over the years as well. Series just isn't given enough credit in that regard.
  7. I always wanted them to do Unicron as the main villain but fuck it. Apparently, there will be a blu ray release of Transformers: The Movie coming out for it's 30th anniversary so I'll be getting that. As for these films, I liked the first, hated the second, thought the third was okay and hated the 4th.
  8. So did anyone make the SS over $100M OW club thread or the over $300M Domestic? I'm out on both.
  9. This doesn't have a Deadpool like marketing campaign and it's not a gimmick rated R movie, the teens won't get to see their favorite hero say "motherfucker" and tell ass and dick jokes.
  10. I'm being very careful with Suicide Squad. If it's good quality it could do very well but don't expect a monster OW. Internet buzz is still different than GA buzz. I don't think SS will see a lot of families out there. The YouTube views and social media talk is due more to comic book Fandom than a casual viewer. Some folks saying an opening north of $100M, that isn't going to happen.
  11. For me it's a mixed batch. I loved Winter Soldier, Iron Man and GotG. Also Avengers. I thought Civil War and Thor and First Avenger were solid. I did not like Iron Man 3 or Age of Ultron or The Dark World. I think they do a nice job but are not infallible which is not a popular held opinion on the net where usually everything is either perfect or trash lol
  12. Wow. Oh, by the way.. my rankings for the series goes 1. Fast Five 2. The Fast and the Furious 3. Fast & Furious 6 4. Furious 7 5. 2 Fast 2 Furious 6. Tokyo Drift 7. Fast & Furious
  13. I'm not sure it's "sequelitis" as much as people are being more selective. They will go see Marvel sequels or F&F sequels etc. With all of the streaming options out there maybe we are getting closer to only having a few big event movies and then little nothing budget stuff.
  14. This weekend is dry. Like a turtle out of water. Holy floppy. Under $30M in play? Yikes..
  15. Even if people thought it'd make a billion, they couldn't have thought it would make more than that. A billion or maybe 1.1 was my ceiling. it fell $128M short. Not even the biggest underperformance of the year. Alice, for example, is going to be a much bigger issue.
  16. The movie was an event yes but it had a ton of question marks coming in. Man of Steel had mixed reviews. Snyder is either a like him or strongly dislike him director. Affleck had built up some positivity through the directing chair but not so much with acting. There were a lot of people on the "Did you forget DAREDEVIL?!" train. Some folks didn't even like The Dark Knight Returns comic and hated the idea of turning it into a film. Plus, first time we've seen Batman since the God, the creator, Nolan's interpretation of the character. So much whining and some of it as we saw was for good reason. So for this movie to do $872M I think now is the official number.. is really damn good for WB. They dodged a bullet. SS better be good though. Also LOL @ the only new thing being Spider-Man in the MCU. Spider-Man is a huge deal. Black Panther garnered some interest and Downey Jr. as Iron Man will always bring people out.
