  1. I avoided movies that had humor but that I felt were more focused on an additional genre (drama, etc), so movies like BRAZIL and BACK TO THE FUTURE didn't make my list. Also just missing my (typically spur-of-the-moment) top 50, in alphabetical order: All of Me (1984) Dead Alive aka Braindead (1992) Down and Out in Beverly Hills (1986) Galaxy Quest (1999) The Gods Must Be Crazy (1980) Office Space (1999) Overboard (1987) Re-Animator (1985) Repo Man (1984) Summer School (1987) Time Bandits (1981) Waiting for Guffman (1996) Weekend At Bernie’s (1989)
  2. I'm sorry you guys didn't have the great experience with GRAVITY that I did.
  3. Zemeckis put his mo-cap knowledge to work as well. He shot a mo-cap session with the real Phillipe and used that data for digital stunt shots.
  4. The question is whether he's been asking for big budgets and getting denied, or whether he's just using sensible budgets for his projects. He's a really savvy filmmaker and knows exactly how to maximize his VFX and shoot efficiently, so it's not like he's been really cramped with his last two movies.
  5. So as I was validating my parking stub at the Arclight (after walking out of THE MARTIAN), Carlton Cuse wandered by right next to me with friends and/or family.
  6. Right. Except it's even more so: all you (and I) know is that you didn't like the movie that resulted from the script. So, basically assign blame to all creative principals (including director and possibly producers). That's especially true when you have a huge heavy-hitter like Scott in charge.
