  1. It's pretty much a one-joke trailer, but at least they set up the misdirection well.
  2. You're right, I was mainly thinking about the summer. And the follow-up posts are true as well: they haven't had any giant break-out hits. But still, a year with a steady diet of slightly profitable movies is hardly the worst thing ever.
  3. Pretty interesting stuff. Had no idea the author couldn't talk about his book (or the movie). I also didn't know the story had already been made into a movie back in the '70s. http://www.maxim.com/entertainment/movies/article/‘-revenant’-author-michael-punke-most-successful-novelist-who-can’t
  4. I don't think Warners' year has been that awful. Up to this point, only U.N.C.L.E. has been a significant underperformer (at least in terms of budget).
  5. I think you should log off Twitter and cancel all your damn YouTube reviewer subscriptions. Stop reacting to movies based on how other people react and just engage them on their own level, for you.
  6. No, the movie is pretty funny too. They just avoid the f-bombs (for the most part).
  7. I think the heat and non-working fan have a much simpler primary function: to show that the room is really damn uncomfortable. No one wants to be there. It's just one more incentive for them to wrap things up quickly.
  8. I don't remember exactly, but didn't he have a line about how his father was a Catholic and his mother was a Hindu? (Which doesn't mean non-Indian, of course, but it gives the hint of an out).
  9. Science is bullshit to you? Whaaa? (It's Macguyver, basically. They never go into that much detail, they just give basic concepts.)
  10. Carnahan is certainly writing the current draft, he tweets about it occasionally.
  11. child slave labor is just the kind of stuff that screams fun for the entire family! It worked for Indy.
  12. Coming late to the Ridley discussion, but some of you guys are forgetting that most of these movies you're describing as "barely profitable" came during the home video boom. Black Hawk Down, Hannibal, even Thelma & Louise: these all made bank for their studios.
