  1. Claiming the Skylanders franchise. Might grab Kim Possible too.
  2. Endless Animation’s Year Of Animation Press Release This morning on the Endless lot, Endless Animation previewed their upcoming slate of films, including Crash Bandicoot and Spyro: Dragonheart all of which will bow in Y2. Among the future releases after Y2 include “Teenage Robot”, a live action/CGI hybrid based of the cartoon, “Skylanders” whose details will not be disclosed yet, and “Don’t Let The Pigeon Drive”, which stars Steve Carell as the infamous but naively optimistic Pigeon, and Pigeon shorts will be released with both Bandicoot and Dragonheart this year. Taking the stage, Endless Animation President Chris McKay commented on what he finds to be an artist-driven slate. “These movies really reflect the unique taste and vision of the filmmakers, and as you’ll see, this leads to a slate that has tremendous variety,” McKay said, noting that while Endless has historically try to put out one animated film every 18 months, the studio has 5 pictures slated to hit theaters over the next few years. McKay also announced that “Don’t Let The Pigeon Drive” would be using their own version of the Paperman CG/2D animation technique and that next year, Tim Burton and Guillermo del Toro plan an upcoming stop motion film for the studio in time for Halloween Y3.
  3. Endless Entertainment lands big distribution deal with IMAX Imax and Endless Entertainment have started a longstanding slate deal through Y3, and disclosed that director Peter Jackson shot key sequences of “Bionicle: Trials Of The Toa” using Imax’s extremely high-resolution cameras, which opens Feb. 16. The deal also covers the upcoming sequel, “Bionicle: Web Of Shadows” which opens sometime in Y3. Films also including in this deal are “Action Movie (3/30)” and “Treasure Planet (11/2)” and includes upcoming movies throughout Y3 like “Supersonic”, a highly anticipated superhero movie by the Russo Brothers. Endless Entertainment also will have their animated movies in IMAX included “Crash Bandicoot (9/14)” and the upcoming Skylanders movie for Y3.
