$500M DOM for Spider-Man seems like a pipe dream at this stage in the recovery.

Damn near impossible. Wasn't that likely prepandemic. Expecting a 30% increase when FFH literally was a bridge post end game and continued the story of iron man is a bit optimistic.

Very similar to saying captain marvel 2 won't hit 530 domestic. Personally I think without endgame CM 2 without the pandemic is lucky to hit 300m domestic. No way home though still could have done 400+ due to the cast, multiverse and other elements. Depends of wom. FFH had a ton of issues but it was fun!

It's got a Christmas run and if we can get boosters and 5-11 vaccines in maybe we can still see awesome numbers (350-400 domestic?)

Scott baity headlines. Just see the comment section. People think it's doing bad :bagoverhead:

Scott has always been biased when it comes to marvel honestly he's went downhill big time. He's just not good at his job anymore. He prefers clickbait to substance, it's kind of sad and pathetic.

Why you keeping acting this way?

Maybe it´s me not paying enough attention but seems like everytime i see you here, is making these type of posts which honestly doesn´t bring any discussion and sometimes even look like a dismiss of people with data.

Charlie and EmpireCity are both good at what they do and they´re help the forum bringing to us very on point numbers to talk about hours before official numbers come out.

Honestly he probably should be banned at this point it's just a troll bit

I thought Xi and Biden just had a call like 2 days ago.. to discuss the countries' relationship?

They did but there's still a lot of animosity as Trump really pushed the envelope the last four years. China retaliated in fair game and there's been a tit for tat for years.

Japan and others are pressuring America to join the TPP. Well it's not politically viable right now it could be later and that would piss off China to no end

The US has grave concerns about China's actions in Hong Kong, the crackdown and the tech world, and what happens in the future what Taiwan.

I hope both sides are reasonable and they come to an agreement that makes neither side happy as that's what it probably should be. I'm just a bit pessimistic given the last 5 years.

Scarlett wants her contract to be honored. It's no greed. Disney didn't renegotiate the contract with specified "no hybrid/streaming" clause and they took the advantage of the loophole that specified widest theatrical release (they honored it) but no restriction on simultaneous streaming because that wasn't a concern at the time of contract signage. Even though Scarlett's legal team was concerned about the possibility as far as 2019. If I'm not mistaken, Disney gave them verbal assurance but didn't want to put anything on paper, sign, etc. So yes, she has the right to sue them as would any other actor or actress in the same situation.

@AJG Yes I agree that framing it as a battle against misogyny is ridiculous. They have a case, no need to turn it into something that it isn't. If RDJ or Evans had a movie out at that time in the pandemic, and contract that didn't bar a simultaneous release because it wasn't a practice at the time of signage, the movie would be sent to PA as well. It just happened that it was BW rather than IM4 or Cap 4.  People forget how panicked studio were back then.

Unfortunately this is not true if she really was requesting a hundred million in compensation of above the 20. She was projecting 1.2 billion when she could have best hopes for maybe 900. China is out independent of the pandemic which will really screws her negotiations.

Had she asked for 50 and been willing to settle for less on top of the 20 I think her lawsuit would serve more merit but right now she absolutely does look insanely greedy. She's not RDJ, in fact she isn't even close she's not even in the top five. She has never carried the franchise and this is a flashback movie after her character died. The possibility of future movies was basically zero and she had little leverage going forward.

I say that as someone who thinks she did an amazing job as Black widow and is one of my favorite characters. I absolutely think she should be entitled to additional compensation but anyone who scoffs at say 50 million is insane

The most viral post is still up though.

This apology looks so fake.. almost like Disney bought this fake account - this account only has 2 weibo posts? Haha.

Considering the accusation was fake and this entire controversy is a load of dog crap I can understand why you would feel that way. I want there to be films in China and I want there to be a relationship between the two nations but right now there's just absolutely no trust and there's just a bunch of BS rumors that both sides perpetuate. I don't foresee the situation getting better for years.

I hope disney keeps Shang Chi of next Avengers movie as well. Why risk that getting banned.

I hope they keep him. Frick pandering to a bitter delusions irrational government. Personally I hope the US joins the TPP or threatens to. China is acting like Russia did before Ukraine. Nip this shit in the bud. No one wants a war or being on the edge of one for decades. War will ruin both

I do think that Venom 2 was always going to gross less than the first. a lot of people like it, but a lot also hated it. I personally enjoyed, but I wouldn't call it a great film by any means, fun and somewhat unique in a cheesy way maybe even good, but not great.

My thought was that it was decent but nowhere near deserving of the box office performance. Especially in China that made no sense. I'm not counting it out even during the pandemic. If they liked that crazy film this one should be even crazier.

Rent was bigger than Dear Evan Hansen

The Producers was bigger than Dear Evan Hansen

Cats was bigger than Dear Evan Hansen

Dear Evan Hansen being bigger than In The Heights doesn’t mean much.

Cats was probably one of the worst productions ever created and then the movie was even worse. The movie actually lost money and it deserved to lose more.

Rent the production was infinitely better than the movie which had good spots and plenty of bad ones.

I think Dear Evan Hansen will do good. I'm surprised you think it's so small the film itself had a hundred million dollar budget.

Also for the record cats in the US did 453 million on 7,485 shows. Dear Evan Hansen did 226 million on 1256 shows so comparing them is ridiculous. Cats of course would have done way more 30 years later too so it's hard to debate either way.

Nah this one is another beast.

    trust me

Honestly I don't even remember the hype on those so I will trust your judgment. I expect to be disappointed because I think the trailer was better than what the actual film will be similar to FFH. But I will enjoy the hell out of it. I'm really easy to please.

Nono no guys, you understimate this one

Maybe I'm wrong but there's no way it's even close to endgame. Sorry I just don't give a crap about trailer views. I'll believe it when I see it.

Find you I fully accept this is one of the most hyped films of the last decade. So the distinction is pretty minimal regardless.

ENDGAME is the most anticipated film in history by a fair amount. This is obviously not going to approach that films hype levels. This is the first real Marvel trailer to be released in forever and is easily the most high profile fit to open since cover began. Trailer view numbers will prove misleading no doubt.

I put it closer to the hype for civil war or Ultron imo

I wonder if it might have done better than it would have in a non Covid world tbh

Personally I think it matters because of the delta variant. At least a 20% hit for most films. Real curious to see how the next spiderman film does. Case counts likely aren't going to be down that much in December with nearly 40% of republicans being antivax. Even saying that makes my brain want to explode.
